Who is reigning?

As we continue reading the second book of Kings we meet many of the various kings that ruled Israel and Judah. Reading through the list of so and so I have come to realise the importance of having the right foundation. My focus over the past few days has been towards getting into 2010 right. Having the right foundation is important to have a solid building.

For many people the year will begin with new year resolutions. Resolutions of what they will achieve but am concerned that many times resolutions are not preceded by a change in thinking. For example, one resolution am hearing from many people is that they will read the Word more come the new year. Great resolve. But on asking what are they doing to ensure they achieve success at the set goal and a blank is drawn. Am concerned because if one expects that because it a new year they will read the bible, that is not a resolution but plain fantasy, which brings me to the kings who reigned over the people of God.

Notice that whenever the king followed God, God moved on his behalf. Look at those who set about to follow the statutes and judgements in accordance to the Word of God they saw God fight on their behalf. The success of any resolution will be determined by what is the reigning thought in your heart and mind. For kings that did not have God's word reigning or paramount they had a proclivity to sin. Those with a propensity towards the Word of God and all that He had commanded they saw signs and wonders on their behalf.

I want to challenge you to build your resolutions on expectations that are defined by the Word. Don't be like Ahaz in 2 Kings 16 who saw an altar in another kingdom and copied it removing the altar of God. His story is the story of many today who are mixing God with the world. Truly a form of godliness but denying the power thereof. Let God have free reign in your life and see His face shine upon you.

Do whatever you need to do to be all that God has ordained for you. Walk with God and watch His hand fight your battles.

Now is....

Everyday I seek to share something that I have learnt through the daily reading. I make a choice to discipline myself not to write too much as we inundated with a lot of reading material. Feel free to add comments because that way we share and thus encourage one another to grow into the fullness of Christ. Today I am amazed at the fact that God will always remember His covenant and fulfill the promise. I want to list five words in the order they appear in one scripture that showed God is at work in our lives. Remembered : My God will never forget me. To be delayed is not to be denied as God will surely remember. God spoke and said to Sarah that He would return at the appointed time; at the right season!!! I do believe that we are in a season where we will see God begin to act on the promises that seem forgotten. Or better put in another way there is a resurrection of seemingly forgotten prophecies that is about to take place. Dry bones are beginning to take shape. Listened : No longer

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than

Dont Go Back to Egypt

Day 207 Reading: Jeremiah 42:1 - Jeremiah 45:5 When life's blows strike us our response matters more than we realise. Many believers today are in a place of bewilderment because life has dealt blows that have knocked the wind out of them. As a result, many are questioning whether God is still God. Reading the Book of Jeremiah I have been encouraged to trust in God at all times.  The remnant children of Israel upon seeing the King of Babylon conquer them asked Jeremiah to seek the mind of God regarding their desire to go to Egypt. The same pattern of thinking that their forefathers had in saying let's go back to Egypt was on display generations after. Many people don't realise the importance of right thinking. God delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt, to desire to go there for safety is a smack to God in the face! When faced with trouble don't allow the thinking of God helps those who help themselves send you to Egypt. It's a death trap! Man
