The Potter and the Clay

Day 201

Reading: Jeremiah 18:1 - Jeremiah 21:14

We have many types of relationships. Some are intimate, casual, family, emotional, academic or just simply friendly. Many times we fail to categorise our relationships rightly and end up having issues that are really a question of what boundaries and expectations does one have in every category of relationships. While meditating on the portion of scripture for the day I was struck by how often we miss out on the value of our relationship with God. Without a full understanding of the dynamics of relationships, we miss out on the value to be gained.

Today many think God is just as a friend. I have news for you if you reduce God to just being your mate or that level of a friend only you will discover that you have missed out on who God is. God is the Elshaddai, a Hebrew wording meaning the multi-breasted one. That tells me He has many faculties and I should therefore not consign Him to just one aspect that pleases me.

In Jeremiah, we meet God as the Potter and we are the clay. The clay has no say on what the potter will fashion it into being. The potter doesn't consult the clay about what the clay will become. Thus Jeremiah, when called by God, was told that his life was ordained before birth. Jeremiah was clay that was fashioned by the potter to be a prophet. Have you ever asked yourself what did the Potter of the Universe fashion me for? You don't use a cup to bath from. It wasn't fashioned for that.  You drink from a cup. Is life drinking from you or are you having a bath of issues from your cup of life?

Every now and then learn to check that you are aligned to the desires of the Potter of Life. Doing this will ensure that you don't crack or break. A cup cannot be used for football. Regular checks ensure we are walking in accordance with the purposes ordained by the Potter. We check by reflecting on our walk with God, the Potter. Are we obedient to the call over our lives? Are we serving Him wholly? Are we worshipping Him alone? Are we giving of ourselves and substances to Him? A close walk with God will ensure we the clay are vessels of honour.

Memory Verse: Jeremiah 20:9

Now is....

Everyday I seek to share something that I have learnt through the daily reading. I make a choice to discipline myself not to write too much as we inundated with a lot of reading material. Feel free to add comments because that way we share and thus encourage one another to grow into the fullness of Christ. Today I am amazed at the fact that God will always remember His covenant and fulfill the promise. I want to list five words in the order they appear in one scripture that showed God is at work in our lives. Remembered : My God will never forget me. To be delayed is not to be denied as God will surely remember. God spoke and said to Sarah that He would return at the appointed time; at the right season!!! I do believe that we are in a season where we will see God begin to act on the promises that seem forgotten. Or better put in another way there is a resurrection of seemingly forgotten prophecies that is about to take place. Dry bones are beginning to take shape. Listened : No longer

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than

Dont Go Back to Egypt

Day 207 Reading: Jeremiah 42:1 - Jeremiah 45:5 When life's blows strike us our response matters more than we realise. Many believers today are in a place of bewilderment because life has dealt blows that have knocked the wind out of them. As a result, many are questioning whether God is still God. Reading the Book of Jeremiah I have been encouraged to trust in God at all times.  The remnant children of Israel upon seeing the King of Babylon conquer them asked Jeremiah to seek the mind of God regarding their desire to go to Egypt. The same pattern of thinking that their forefathers had in saying let's go back to Egypt was on display generations after. Many people don't realise the importance of right thinking. God delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt, to desire to go there for safety is a smack to God in the face! When faced with trouble don't allow the thinking of God helps those who help themselves send you to Egypt. It's a death trap! Man
