A Letter from David to Solomon

Day 119

Reading: 1 Chronicles 21:1 - 1 Chronicles 23:32

Dear Son,

I know that this sounds strange that I have chosen to write to you. Especially when I could have called and told you what I want to say to you. This letter is not to criticise you but to encourage you of the great days that lie ahead for you. I had a conversation with God and heard things about you that astounded me. I was blown away thinking of the many things that God has in store for you. No matter what you are seeing I have news for you: God has great exciting plans for you.

I told God about my dream to build a temple of worship for Him. I can't understand why we have allowed God to dwell in a tent while we have built cities for our people. Yes, I know that whatever we build cannot contain Him, however, I believe we are responsible for building the best for God. If anything, all our enemies worship their idols in magnificent buildings why worship God in some dilapidated building of a tent.

Anyway, God sent the prophet to speak to me. You know Nathan has been a blessing always giving me counsel from God's mind. I have always treasured his insight into the mind of God and I acknowledge his gift knowing that he only has God's interests at heart. He told me that God had instructed me not to build the temple but that I would have my son build it. God also assured me that my descendants would sit on the throne ruling over the kingdom. I was assured of the fact that your reign would be one of peace and that God would establish you in greatness. I rejoiced hearing the prophesy that Nathan brought.

My child may I charge you to keep the way of the Lord. Abide in the Lord by the commandments that Moses gave and you will prosper. Son, walk before God. Arise and build His Temple that nations may hear of His magnificence. I have prayed that God will give you wisdom and understanding to rule over this nation.

I pray that you will prosper and build the House of God. To build what God deserves will require resources. I have already started acquiring the resources for you to build on. Don't spare any expense for I know God will provide.

Lastly, let me remind you to walk with God. Don't depart from the ways of God. Walk with God and you will experience His goodness that the world will talk about. Keep to the law of Moses. As you are crowned king I will instruct all the leaders of Israel to stand beside you. Be strong and courageous in your pursuit of God.

Love,

Dad.

Personalise this scripture

"Now I set my heart and my soul to seek the Lord God. I will arise and build the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord and the holy articles of God into the house that is to be built for the name of the Lord.” 1 Chronicles 22:19 (paraphrased; italics mine)

Now is....

Everyday I seek to share something that I have learnt through the daily reading. I make a choice to discipline myself not to write too much as we inundated with a lot of reading material. Feel free to add comments because that way we share and thus encourage one another to grow into the fullness of Christ. Today I am amazed at the fact that God will always remember His covenant and fulfill the promise. I want to list five words in the order they appear in one scripture that showed God is at work in our lives. Remembered : My God will never forget me. To be delayed is not to be denied as God will surely remember. God spoke and said to Sarah that He would return at the appointed time; at the right season!!! I do believe that we are in a season where we will see God begin to act on the promises that seem forgotten. Or better put in another way there is a resurrection of seemingly forgotten prophecies that is about to take place. Dry bones are beginning to take shape. Listened : No longer

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than

Dont Go Back to Egypt

Day 207 Reading: Jeremiah 42:1 - Jeremiah 45:5 When life's blows strike us our response matters more than we realise. Many believers today are in a place of bewilderment because life has dealt blows that have knocked the wind out of them. As a result, many are questioning whether God is still God. Reading the Book of Jeremiah I have been encouraged to trust in God at all times.  The remnant children of Israel upon seeing the King of Babylon conquer them asked Jeremiah to seek the mind of God regarding their desire to go to Egypt. The same pattern of thinking that their forefathers had in saying let's go back to Egypt was on display generations after. Many people don't realise the importance of right thinking. God delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt, to desire to go there for safety is a smack to God in the face! When faced with trouble don't allow the thinking of God helps those who help themselves send you to Egypt. It's a death trap! Man
