Systems for Success

Day 120

Reading: 1 Chronicles 24:1 - 1 Chronicles 29:30

Success is not a coincidence. No one who is termed successful did it by chance. Success is a result of good decisions towards a goal. Success requires a system in place to enable the goal to become a reality. Reading through the passages of Scripture for today's reading I realised that many times I have assumed success would just happen. I don't know why we sometimes think this way, however, I have today reinforced it within myself that I can only be successful if I am willing to have systems in place that run a well-oiled machine to fulfil the vision within. Put people in the right place and they will function well.

David had systems in place to govern the land. He oversaw appointments that ensured the worship of God was coordinated well and that had leaders appointed to various tasks. Every department of governance was overseen by a capable person. Appointments were not dished just because you were born or had favour with the king. Appointments reflected your capabilities and carried responsibility. Let me ask who have you appointed with a responsibility in your life? What vision are they fulfilling in your life? Are they working together with you or for themselves?

What qualities were looked for in David's leader?
  • Capacity to perform in the defined role.
  • Willingness to perform the required task.
  • Loyalty to the king.
  • Lineage. David understood the requirements of the law. So he picked leaders who fulfilled the criteria set by God.
David also gathered the population and shared the vision for the House of God. He didn't just charge Solomon in private to build the House of God. He also did it in front of the population in Jerusalem. He exhorted the people to follow God and abide in the Word of God.

David gave over and above not because he was commanded but out of his love and affection for the House of God. May we learn to give out of our affection for the House of God. Notice that when vision is declared and clarified openly people give out of a loyal heart which will result in rejoicing. Coerced giving never brings a harvest or joy to the giver.

Memory Verse: 1 Chronicles 29:3

Decree

Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all. Both riches and honour come from You, and You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; in Your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. 1 Chronicles 29:10-12(italics mine)

Now is....

Everyday I seek to share something that I have learnt through the daily reading. I make a choice to discipline myself not to write too much as we inundated with a lot of reading material. Feel free to add comments because that way we share and thus encourage one another to grow into the fullness of Christ. Today I am amazed at the fact that God will always remember His covenant and fulfill the promise. I want to list five words in the order they appear in one scripture that showed God is at work in our lives. Remembered : My God will never forget me. To be delayed is not to be denied as God will surely remember. God spoke and said to Sarah that He would return at the appointed time; at the right season!!! I do believe that we are in a season where we will see God begin to act on the promises that seem forgotten. Or better put in another way there is a resurrection of seemingly forgotten prophecies that is about to take place. Dry bones are beginning to take shape. Listened : No longer

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than

Dont Go Back to Egypt

Day 207 Reading: Jeremiah 42:1 - Jeremiah 45:5 When life's blows strike us our response matters more than we realise. Many believers today are in a place of bewilderment because life has dealt blows that have knocked the wind out of them. As a result, many are questioning whether God is still God. Reading the Book of Jeremiah I have been encouraged to trust in God at all times.  The remnant children of Israel upon seeing the King of Babylon conquer them asked Jeremiah to seek the mind of God regarding their desire to go to Egypt. The same pattern of thinking that their forefathers had in saying let's go back to Egypt was on display generations after. Many people don't realise the importance of right thinking. God delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt, to desire to go there for safety is a smack to God in the face! When faced with trouble don't allow the thinking of God helps those who help themselves send you to Egypt. It's a death trap! Man
