Get Set For Your Breakthrough

Day 117

Reading: 1 Chronicles 14:1 - 1 Chronicles 16:43

Every pain we experience in life has a termination date. Nothing was ever made to last forever. That stinking situation that has made your life hell was never meant to last. Please before you read further speak to that situation and announce to it that it is being terminated. Every troubling situation has an expiry date. If man-made products expire why should issues on earth last a lifetime? God didn't create you and me for trouble. We were born to reign. Remember that in the beginning, God spoke light into darkness Genesis 1:3. The beginning of your turnaround is with your words. Speak light to terminate darkness.

The Philistines were not happy that David whom they had sheltered while Saul was seeking to kill him was now their rival. They must have thought now that David was king they would have an alliance of some sort. Time to cohabit with the enemy was over. They weren't going to have a party together. The Philistines sought to get David killed and went to cut off Jerusalem from Bethlehem.

David on hearing that the Philistines had come for battle, first seeks God for direction. Seek God for direction on the breakthrough you desire. Before the Philistines arrived David knew that the Lord God had established him as king and saw that his kingdom was highly exalted. It was immediately after this that the enemy arrived to search for David. The enemy will always seek to contend with your blessing. Understand that to fight your enemy at this time will require divine insight. You can't just go out to fight without having a divine strategy and plan.

On emerging victorious against the Philistines, David declared that God had broken through his enemies like waters bursting out. David also ordered that the idols left by the Philistines be burned. In doing this David was declaring that idols will not be allowed on the hallowed ground. Let me encourage you to know that God is about to break through for you. Please note that water coming through a tap is not water bursting forth. Have you ever seen a place where there is a burst pipe? The water gushes out looking for a way out because of the pressure or force of the water. With God behind you get ready to burst forth in victory over that enemy contending with you. There is a way out and that place is the place of breakthrough. You will breakthrough! I am breaking through every siege laid against my progress.

When the enemy returned David sought God again for a wise strategy to take on the enemy. God gave David a strategy advising him to take on the enemy from the back and not the front. This time God also advised him that he should attack on hearing the sound of marching on mulberry trees. David would attack only when the host of heaven arrived. When they attacked the enemy fled and this time David not only won but he also took over territory by driving the enemy back from where they had camped. Your breakthrough will see you take over territory that has been occupied by the enemy.

The question is what can hinder my breakthrough?
  • Fear. Saul would have defeated the Philistines, however, we saw earlier that he feared Goliath and the Philistines 1 Samuel 17.
  • Dishonour. Michal despised David for dancing before God in public and never had a child. Don't despise someone who is serving God for it may turn out to be your downfall. Don't despise that person serving God. Michal had a conversation with David in private about what he did in public. No prayer was made, however, her despising her man's action brought barrenness. Who have you despised that may be causing barrenness in your life?
  • Prayerlessness. David asked God for direction. God can't lead you if you are not willing to ask Him.
  • Disobedience. You know what God expects of you, however, you are unwilling to do it. That is ground to remain in the place of bondage. Realise that anywhere you are not walking in accordance to the Word of God is an invitation to stagnation. David tried bringing the Ark using a cart and discovered that this was not the right way. Ignorance of God's word is not bliss for it is fatal.
In conclusion, do as the priests carrying the Ark did. In preparation, they sanctified themselves in readiness for what they were about to carry on their shoulders. You are about to carry a new sound of joy and hope, the Presence of God will bring change. Prepare for this by separating yourself from that which defiles.

Memory Verse: 1 Chronicles 15:14

Decree:

.."God has broken through my enemies by my hand like a breakthrough of water.” 1 Chronicles 14:11a(italics mine)

Now is....

Everyday I seek to share something that I have learnt through the daily reading. I make a choice to discipline myself not to write too much as we inundated with a lot of reading material. Feel free to add comments because that way we share and thus encourage one another to grow into the fullness of Christ. Today I am amazed at the fact that God will always remember His covenant and fulfill the promise. I want to list five words in the order they appear in one scripture that showed God is at work in our lives. Remembered : My God will never forget me. To be delayed is not to be denied as God will surely remember. God spoke and said to Sarah that He would return at the appointed time; at the right season!!! I do believe that we are in a season where we will see God begin to act on the promises that seem forgotten. Or better put in another way there is a resurrection of seemingly forgotten prophecies that is about to take place. Dry bones are beginning to take shape. Listened : No longer

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than

Dont Go Back to Egypt

Day 207 Reading: Jeremiah 42:1 - Jeremiah 45:5 When life's blows strike us our response matters more than we realise. Many believers today are in a place of bewilderment because life has dealt blows that have knocked the wind out of them. As a result, many are questioning whether God is still God. Reading the Book of Jeremiah I have been encouraged to trust in God at all times.  The remnant children of Israel upon seeing the King of Babylon conquer them asked Jeremiah to seek the mind of God regarding their desire to go to Egypt. The same pattern of thinking that their forefathers had in saying let's go back to Egypt was on display generations after. Many people don't realise the importance of right thinking. God delivered the children of Israel out of Egypt, to desire to go there for safety is a smack to God in the face! When faced with trouble don't allow the thinking of God helps those who help themselves send you to Egypt. It's a death trap! Man
