Day 44
Reading: Num 15:1- Num. 17:13
I just love the way God deals with His children. The children of Israel had just been rebuked for not believing God and in judgement, God had stated that only those below 20 would enter Canaan. They then tried to enter where God had said they wouldn't enter and they were beaten by nations that should have been fodder for them. At such a time God begins to give instructions about the offering they would offer in the land He would give them. God immediately began training the next generation that would possess the land. May I not miss my season that I spend my years preparing those who will enter where I should have entered. I know we leave in a dispensation that says God is a God of a second chance, however, we need to be willing and obedient to go the way of the Lord not by our own reckoning but by the leading and prompting of God.
The Law teaches us various aspects of God. Moses was given instruction on the law regarding unintentional sin and presumptuous sin. God abhors sin, any sin for that matter whether unintentional or planned. Sin has a consequence and we should desire to walk right before God to avoid sin at all costs. Sin is a joy stealer. Do anything to preserve the joy of the Lord for sin brings carnal joy.
The more I read about the law the more I am aware of my unrighteousness without God's solution. The more I understand God's desire to walk with me and the requirements for that to be possible. One thing I am appreciating more than ever and I am praying that I learn is to understand the Sabbath. To understand the importance of rest is something we seem to be losing today. We are always busy chasing our dreams that we are ignoring the need to understand rest. Why would God the Creator rest? If He did then we need to understand the need to rest from our activities. The principle of rest was introduced at the beginning of creation when God rested on the 7th Day.
There will always be threats to God-ordained leadership. All Israel had seen how God dealt with the sons of Aaron who offered strange fire; they had also seen how God dealt with Miriam. The entire camp didn't move for 7 days because she had been struck with leprosy. Korah didn't read this memo it appears and he gathered some 250 representatives and leaders to rise up against Moses. They saw themselves as equal and didn't see the need for a leader. God is a God of order. Korah was a priest however he had overstepped the mark. This desire for power is a challenge we all have to deal with. One must crucify the need for power at every level of life. All power is given by God only.
Korah's desire to be in the lineage of the priesthood and the answers of Dathan and Abiram brought about judgement. Moses again stood interceding for the people and instead of bringing judgement to the rebels in the Tabernacle, Moses decreed judgement in the camp. If anyone doubted if God had called Moses as His prophet it was ended there. No one would criticise God's choice of Aaron for the priesthood. God will always defend the anointed one. May God arise and defend His own.
Human beings will never cease to amaze me. If anything I am one of them. God meted out judgement against rebels and soon Moses and Aaron were fighting accusations that they were the killers of the rebels and their families. Moses had asked God to show who is His chosen leader. The people instead of respecting Moses had rebelled.
Moses instead of killing the leaders cries to God for mercy for this people. One thing that has struck me about Moses is that he carried the children of Israel as his own and was ready to defend before God even when they were hurting him. As a leader learn to intercede for all the people who are rebelling against you. You are the Moses in the office, marriage, corporation sent by God to deliver the people. Moses gave an instruction to Aaron, to put incense and run to stop the plague. Let worship arise as incense and stop every plague of the enemy in your life.
God decided that He would deal with the complaints of the people on the priesthood. May God handle every complaint against my calling. Each leader of a tribe brought a rod and the rod that would bud in 24 hours would be the priest. This was God's solution to all those who were calling themselves. It is only God who can cause a ministry, marriage, career, business to bud when He has ordained it to function as He desires. Charles, you will bud in the place of your calling, not ambition. Aaron's rod not only budded but yielded ripened almonds. It takes 5 years for an almond tree to produce fruit. In some cases 12 years. Yet in 24 hours Aaron's rod had budded and produced fruit that was ripe. Lord, with speed, confirm that You have ordained in my life.
Memory Verse: Num. 17:5-8
Decree:
Father, thank You for calling me by my name. I yield my all to You alone. All power belongs to You alone. I repent of desiring that which is of another. Lord help me to learn to stay in my lane and not think of myself better than one You have called. Lord, I pray the grace to stand in the gap and intercede for the nations will be poured afresh on me. Clothe me with a hunger to see Your people enter the promised land. Lord, I pray that as You showed up for Moses and defended Him, defend me in every arena. I pray Lord that with speed You cause that which concerns me to come alive, sprout and ripen in Jesus name. Amen.
