Day 48 Reading: Num. 27:1 - Num. 30:16 God is a God of justice. Many today seek what is fair however many times they never get what justice has for them. The inheritance laws were clear about who would possess what. They seemed fair however the daughters of Zelophehad didn't think they were just. The Law didn't have a just settlement for where there was no male figure in a family. They questioned whether the law was inadvertently writing off the name of the family and his lineage because he didn't have boys. God's response is just and fair. A balance that is difficult to get in today's law systems.  The succession of leadership is important to God. Moses knew he wouldn't go into Canaan and sought God for a shepherd for the people. He didn't seek just for a leader but a shepherd. As a leader learn to wait on God on everything. Things just seem to be getting tougher a friend said to me recently. As they said this I perceived within their words that they were on the verge of giving up. Many times as we go through life we face difficulties that seem to challenge every belief we hold on to. As I sat and reviewed my life, the year so far, the days ahead it became clear to me that I needed to buckle up and resolve that no matter what the battle or how tough life looks I will hold on to my faith in God and not quit. Looking through the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11 we see people who obtained the promises given by God and each one of them persevered even when all looked lost. Abraham and Sarah waited for 25 years before they held their son. David overcame Goliath by holding on to the faith that Goliath was not bigger than God, and he had no right to terrorise the children of Israel.  My simple encouragement to you this week is don't quit. The year is coming to an end; somehow the end seems closer than ever. Days just seem to be flying and as a friend told me life is moving faster than the speed of light. Recently, I woke up with the thought of what do I need to do to succeed in the coming year. Many have began planning for the glorious days they desire to see ahead but all the plans will be of no use without this one key, namely PREPARATION. Every chef will tell you that the secret to an excellent meal is in the preparation of the ingredients. Preparation is the key to successful execution of plans not just in the kitchen of a Michelin restaurant but even in life. As one prepares to enter the new year preparation will take many forms. One very important aspect of this will be the closure of matters that can easily be a distraction going forward. One cannot plan properly without closing matters that need to be put away in 2011. Every night when I lay my head and sleep I look forward to a better tomorrow. I am always hopeful that my tomorrow will be better than my yesterday. I am always seeking for answers to having a better tomorrow. When you deal with people as I do on a daily basis you discover that what most people want is the key to a better tomorrow. We are constantly seeking for answers to how to improve life. No one likes problems or challenges and as a result we are seeking for ways to make our experiences of life better, easier, calmer, and more enjoyable. As I have meditated and thought upon life in general I have come to discover that there is one key to a better tomorrow; diligence is the key to a better tomorrow. Diligence is the constant and persistent effort required to accomplish what is to be undertaken.
