Day 35 Reading: Lev. 21:1- Lev. 23:44 Serving God is what we are to live for. It's not the exclusive call of a few but for humanity. God made us to serve Him and that we serve Him wholly. The law was strict on what a priest was allowed to do. The priest was to carry out their life with total consecration to God. The priest was not to hang around dead persons. Defilement meant that as a priest you couldn't offer the offerings or partake of the bread. Yes, he could be there for close family members but not everybody. Charles, don't mix yourself with everyone and thus get defiled. God is to be hallowed before all men!  Live a consecrated life to be able to give bread to God. Don't live holy for the people but for God who makes me holy. A defect would disqualify a priest from serving in the tabernacle. Day 23 Reading: Ex. 21:1- Ex. 23:33 God loves order. The laws given to Moses reveal God's disposition towards order. The laws may have been on everything from day to day life however they reveal that God has sights on all that pertains our lives. The laws also show us how we are to behave towards God and one another. The laws reveal how much God hates unrighteousness. Freedom from slavery was important to God. None of His children would be slaves forever unless it was willingly. As God created the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th day,He desired that those in slavery also enjoy this principle of rest. Learn to walk in this principle in all matters. Understand the power of releasing others to their freedom. Understand the importance of rest to God. Even the land was to take a period of rest.
