Divine Encounters

Day 178 Reading: Isaiah 4:1 - Isaiah 6:13 The Bible is filled with divine encounters. Such moments turn an ordinary person into a vessel that's in the hand of God. Divine encounters introduce T junctions in our lives. We either follow the direction of God or waste away in sin.  Isaiah had been prophesying before this divine encounter that would transform his ministry. He had just declared woes to those who loved corruption, to those calling evil good and vice versa. It seems that divine encounters appear when we are in a desert kind of situation. Remember Moses was looking after sheep cut off from family when God met with him. Elijah walked 40 days to a cave in a place far from people and met with God there. Solomon was alone when God met with him at night even though when he gave the sacrificial offering he was surrounded by throngs of people. Day 35 Reading: Lev. 21:1- Lev. 23:44 Serving God is what we are to live for. It's not the exclusive call of a few but for humanity. God made us to serve Him and that we serve Him wholly. The law was strict on what a priest was allowed to do. The priest was to carry out their life with total consecration to God. The priest was not to hang around dead persons. Defilement meant that as a priest you couldn't offer the offerings or partake of the bread. Yes, he could be there for close family members but not everybody. Charles, don't mix yourself with everyone and thus get defiled. God is to be hallowed before all men!  Live a consecrated life to be able to give bread to God. Don't live holy for the people but for God who makes me holy. A defect would disqualify a priest from serving in the tabernacle. Day 34 Reading: Lev. 18:1-Lev. 20:27 Life will pull in many directions. I have a responsibility to stand against the worldly tide and stand firm on the principles and precepts of the Word. God expects me to keep His commandments irrespective of the environment. Lord, help my heart lean towards your Word alone. Sexual purity is of concern to God. The immorality of today, the lewdness of the generations today is concerning to God. God specifically tells the children not to take the habits of the world. The world today is undergoing a change and the standards that were held as right are no longer looked up to but rather frowned upon.  Sex has been sold everywhere and God never intended for this to be the case. As I read this portion of scripture it became clear to me that my attitudes towards relationships need to be aligned with God's views.  Have you thought about the effects of all this immorality? Day 31 Reading: Lev. 8:1- Lev. 11:47 The month of January ends today. Thank You Lord for Your mercies that have sustained me. I am looking forward to great days ahead.  Start everyday by consecrating yourself to God. Learn to allow God to point areas that need to be consecrated-given- to Him. This is a daily walk where each day God will reveal more of Himself making one desire the need to grow into the fullness of what God has ordained. Moses would begin the process of consecration by washing the priests. Now I know why they say cleanliness is next to godliness.  Consecration into the office of God's calling is to be taken seriously. Too many times we take our roles lightly in that we don't see ourselves as sent by God in those roles. Take each role with a heavenly perspective and the brevity of consecration will be easy. Day 23 Reading: Ex. 21:1- Ex. 23:33 God loves order. The laws given to Moses reveal God's disposition towards order. The laws may have been on everything from day to day life however they reveal that God has sights on all that pertains our lives. The laws also show us how we are to behave towards God and one another. The laws reveal how much God hates unrighteousness. Freedom from slavery was important to God. None of His children would be slaves forever unless it was willingly. As God created the earth in 6 days and rested on the 7th day,He desired that those in slavery also enjoy this principle of rest. Learn to walk in this principle in all matters. Understand the power of releasing others to their freedom. Understand the importance of rest to God. Even the land was to take a period of rest.
