Living Right

Day 34

Reading: Lev. 18:1-Lev. 20:27

Life will pull in many directions. I have a responsibility to stand against the worldly tide and stand firm on the principles and precepts of the Word. God expects me to keep His commandments irrespective of the environment. Lord, help my heart lean towards your Word alone.

Sexual purity is of concern to God. The immorality of today, the lewdness of the generations today is concerning to God. God specifically tells the children not to take the habits of the world. The world today is undergoing a change and the standards that were held as right are no longer looked up to but rather frowned upon.  Sex has been sold everywhere and God never intended for this to be the case. As I read this portion of scripture it became clear to me that my attitudes towards relationships need to be aligned with God's views.

Have you thought about the effects of all this immorality? As I heard that question within myself it dawned on me that the world is having the contractions of God's judgement as we have really become like Sodom and Gomorrah. I once heard a preacher say that if God doesn't deal with this generation He would need to apologise to Sodom and Gomorrah. Charles, you are required to uphold the Word of God.  God told the children of Israel that one reason He was giving them the land was that the peoples who lived there before had defiled themselves because of the sexual sin. God told them that sexual sin would throw them out of the land. May God have mercy and make a way for you and me.

Honouring parents is critical to God. God commanded that parents were to be honoured and in the same breath stated that the Sabbath was to be kept and idols were not to be worshipped. God is to be worshipped and Him alone. The 19th chapter of Leviticus is similar to the Exodus 20 where we were introduced to the Ten Commandments. One of the laws that struck me in this chapter was the instruction to leave some of the harvest on the vineyard for the poor and stranger. Today's world doesn't see the value of leaving a portion of produce for the poor or stranger. Imagine if we did! How would our communities be stronger?

The law prohibited divination and soothsaying. Tattoos were disallowed as this was a cutting of the flesh which would involve blood. Notice that the instruction about tattoos followed the instruction on blood. Context is always important when looking at scripture.

Today believers are seeking for prophetic indicators in a manner that almost reduces the gifted to mediums. Lord help me to hear Your voice clearly.  Honesty in everything. God is a God of Justice and in the law, He valued justice in all things from measurements to life.

Offering your body to an idol resulted in death. Today the believer needs to rededicate themselves to God and ask for mercy for many of us have turned the gifting into a money minting scheme whereas believers have stopped seeking God for guidance.

Disobedience to the law would result in the children of God being banished out of the land of inheritance. As I have read this portion of scripture, my heart has been convicted of a need for repentance to God for sin. The need to cry for mercy to prevail over my life, my family, nation and the world is greater than ever.

Memory Verse: Lev. 19:17-18

Decree:

Father, I come before knowing that You are the God of Mercy. I repent of my sins and the sins of the family, and nation. Lord, today I yield my life to You alone. Take my life and sanctify me for You alone. Break every soul tie in my life. Cleanse me of all sin by the BLood of the Lamb. Today I stand free because the Blood speaks for me, family and nation. Mercy will prevail over judgement in Jesus name. Amen.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
