Atonement

Day 33

Reading: Lev. 15:1- Lev. 17:16

Leviticus reveals some interesting laws. So if you had a bruise that had a discharge, some pus or blood you were unclean. What amazed me is that everything you came into contact with was also unclean. As I read this a thought came to me. In life we get some bruises and the discharge may be in the form of anger, hate, bitterness, or unforgiveness and we don't realise that we are unclean and everywhere we go we pollute the surroundings. Charles, be careful of any discharge that may be in your life.

To be one who intercedes for nations requires we understand the responsibility and requirements. God instituted a day of atonement where the entire nation would come to Him in prayer and fasting and seek atonement for their sins. The priest would first seek atonement for himself before seeking that of the people.

As a believer, we must understand our responsibility to walk upright and to be holy. We cannot expect that we can cry to God for the sins of our nations yet we are walking in sin. As I read the process that Aaron would have to go through it made me realise the responsibility I have to be pure for me to be a representative of my people. Yes, I understand that my sins have been taken. However, constantly check that you are right before God.

Believers today need to understand that God has made them holy, and when Christ comes they will be made holy however in between the salvation and the resurrection we have a working out that requires we understand our responsibilities towards God. The law was about works and thus the children of Israel had a day of atonement. Today's dispensation doesn't have this requirement, however, many have forgotten that they need to walk uprightly before God even more than ever.

We are not to eat blood for two reasons. Life is in the blood and the blood makes atonement for us. May the Blood of the Lamb speak over me.

Memory Verse: Lev. 17:11

Decree:

Father, I declare that Your love is from everlasting to everlasting. I thank You for the sacrifice of the Blood that atoned for my sins. The Blood cleanses me from every uncleanliness. I decree that I am free of sin and that the Blood of the Lamb speaks of greater things for me. I decree that I have access to the mercy seat. I decree the Mercy of God is speaking over my life from today in Jesus name. Amen

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
