Boundaries of Inheritance

Day 50

Reading: Num. 34:1 - Num. 36:13

Am I living below what God has ordained for me? Am I operating within the boundaries of the land God has set for me or not? Reading through the boundaries God gave Moses for the land He was giving the children of Israel, I began to ask myself whether I am living within the boundaries of the promises God has set for me. Wherever you and I are not living within the boundaries of God study the promise relevant to that area of life and determine to move to that place.

In apportioning the land God established that the Levites would have 48 cities to live in. Of these cities, God declared 6 would be refuge cities. A refuge city would be one where a man-slayer who kills accidentally would flee from the avenger. The avenger would not be able to follow anyone into these cities. If the man-slayer left the city of refuge the avenger of blood could find him and avenged the murder. God is our refuge and anytime we aren't walking with Him is simply an occasion for the enemy to 'avenge'.

Continually as I have read the Bible I have come to learn about the different principles. The Law clearly stated that one witness was not enough to commute a death sentence against a murderer. The Law was clear that a matter is established by more than one witness. Justice is not served when your case is tried on one witness only.

One of the biggest challenges we have today is that the land mass is diminishing. As a result, we see many fights for land. In some cases, we find that government registers for land are being tampered with corruptly. The land is being polluted by the blood being split with murders and especially the crimes being committed against landowners where murders are being committed against them to force them to move away.  God is a God of Justice and His Justice will be served.

Preservation of the fathers' land was important to God. The family where there were no sons but only daughters were restricted to whom they could marry. They were not allowed to marry outside the tribe so that the land of the father didn't leave the tribe.  No inheritance would change hands from one tribe to another.

Memory Verse: Num. 34:2

Decree:

Father, Thank  You for Justice. You, O Lord are a God of Justice. You are my Refuge. I choose to hide under Your Shadow. Lord, I decree that I will possess my land. I will not settle for less than what You have ordained for. I rise and take the land according to the boundaries You have defined for me. I decree that I will not lose my inheritance in God for God is my portion in Jesus name.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
