Obey God

Day 52

Reading: Deut. 3:1- Deut. 4:49

Moses recounts the past victory against Og, the king of Bashan illustrating that God had indeed given victory over the inhabitants and enemies of the children of God. Here we also learn that this king was a giant. Don't ever be surprised that before you enter the land you deal with a giant. Moses in going over the journey from Egypt to where they were was also to encourage Joshua. Moses is constantly told to encourage and strengthen Joshua. 'Charles, you must not fear them, for God is the one who contends for you.'

Ever felt as though there is a prayer God doesn't answer. God does answer though the answer may not be the one we desire.  Moses desired to enter the land and prayed. From the response God gave him, its obvious Moses prayed about this matter many a time. However, God wouldn't grant his petition.

Obedience is key to possessing the land. It will only go well with me when I walk in obedience to God. I am expected to listen, observe and abide by the commandments of God. I am not to add or take away any portion of them. I am not to bend the rules of God so that I seemingly apply them. That's deception.  God expects me to go forward walking in His righteousness and serving Him alone. Observing the commandments of God will make me wise and cause those who watch me to be drawn to the wisdom and understanding of God.

Charles, be diligent in obeying the Word of God. Pass the commandments of God to the generations after you.  Don't lose the fear of God. Keep reminding yourself of the encounters you have had where God has introduced Himself to you. God has brought me out to be His own.'

Don't forget God brings us out of the iron furnace that we may be His own inheritance. I have been brought out of Egypt to serve God not idols. God is a God of covenant and I am to constantly remind myself of the Covenant of God. What He has promised He will not alter nor fail to deliver. God is a jealous God, a consuming fire. Lord consume every form of bondage in my life.

Moses reminds the children of Israel that if their children don't serve God, they would be scattered to different places where they would serve men as slaves or servants. However, he promises that if the descendants seek God they will be found by Him only if they seek Him wholeheartedly.God is a merciful God and even when in bondage He will not forget the covenant with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Every testimony is to show that the Lord God is God by Himself. The signs, wonders, trials, mighty acts, outstretched arm, wars, manifestations of power, and God's Presence are all done to show forth His glory so that there is no mistaking of Who I belong to and Whom I should serve. Know that God is God of heaven and earth. Before you possess the land have an understanding that God is the God of heaven and of the earth.

Memory Verse: Deut. 4:29

Decree:

Father, thank You for every testimony of Your power, healing, greatness, joy, breakthrough, the new beginning in my life. I declare that You alone are God. You are Jehovah, Yahweh, from Everlasting to Everlasting. You reign supreme in the heavens on earth. You are God and there is no other. I decree that I will walk in obedience to Your commandments. Lord, I pray that You will manifest Your glory as I possess the land of promise in Jesus name. Amen.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
