Jubilee

Day 36

Reading: Lev. 24:1- Lev. 25:55

In the beginning, God counted a day from evening to evening. Today for many of us the day starts in the morning. However, the clock states that the day begins at midnight. I find it interesting that God required the High priest to sustain the light of the Lampstand in the Holy Place from the evening to the morning.  It's my responsibility to ensure light burns brightly before the morning. Before we see the dawn I have to keep declaring the light of the Word. It's my responsibility to seek the oil for the light that is the fresh revelation for the day dawning. Many today have forgotten the responsibility of seeking for fresh revelation for the day. Charles, maintain the oil for the light of the Word.

The children of Israel were dependant on the enquiring of the mind of the Lord regarding life issues. We have a responsibility to seek the mind of the Lord regarding life in general. Be careful that you do not curse God. The gentleman who cursed God was in a fight and the result was death. His father was Egyptian whilst his mother was Israeli. No matter what you are going through in life don't think that you can misrepresent God by speaking badly of Him.

One principle we see consistently in the Word of God is one of rest. Unless one rests in God you cannot enjoy the relationship. Rest fully on His works; on His capabilities, powers, salvation, deliverance, and wisdom. Every 7 years God required that the land was given a Sabbath. After 7 such Sabbath years, 49 years that is, the people prepared for a season called Jubilee. Everyone returned to their own land. Slaves were free to return their place unless they renounced their freedom.  A trumpet was blown to sound the season of Jubilee.

During Jubilee, the people returned to their own possession. Talk about social justice. Every 50 years God expected that land that was bought from one family was reverted back to the original owners if they paid a certain amount in accordance with the dictates of the Law. Certain exceptions were also noted. A house sold that was on the walled side would not be returned in the Jubilee if the seller didn't buy it back in 1 year.

There is a blessing that God commands abundance. This blessing not only feeds for a year but sustains for 3 years. Lord command Your blessing in my life.

Leaseholds began with God. Land couldn't be sold permanently. It could be redeemed by a relative of the seller. This ensured that families would not be priced out of the land. If no one could redeem their land God had the Jubilee clause inserted into the Law signifying that even land was restored to the owner in Jubilee. Debts were cancelled. Lord, I thank You for the season of Jubilee that is my portion. Every debt is cancelled in Jesus Name.

Lending to the brethren was a no-go zone. God expected that the children of Isreal look after their own who became poor at any time. If a child of Israel become poor and sold himself to work he wasn't considered a slave but a hired servant. A child of Israel couldn't be classed a slave as they were servants of God. Charles, you are a servant of God and not a slave to anyone or anything.

Memory Verse: Lev. 25:55

Decree:

Father, I bow before You in adoration. I decree a season of Jubilee is upon my life and family. I decree the trumpet of Jubilee is blown over my life announcing a season of restoration. I am restored to glory. I decree that all that I have lost is being restored to me without fail. I decree that from today I walk in jubilation as the Jubilee is over my all in Jesus name. Amen

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...
