Beware of the Seductive Spirit

Day 47

Reading: Num. 24:1 - Num. 26:65

There is a season where those sent to curse you will have no choice but to bless you. A season where your enemies cannot speak against you. Balaam had no option but to declare a blessing upon the children of Israel. Balak was not amused as 3 times Balaam had blessed the children of Israel and there was nothing he could do about it. Balaam went on to speak the fate of the nations Israel would deal with and Balak wasn't happy to know that Moab his nation would be one of them that Israel would batter.

Watch your environment and be careful who is around you. The children of Israel were soon seduced by the women of Moab. What Balaam couldn't do, that derails the people of God, the women of Moab did. Talk about generational curses. The Moabites are actually related to the children of Israel. The daughters of Lot- Abraham's nephew- slept with their father after the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. They 'seduced' their father, got him drunk and slept with him. The son born to the first born daughter was named Moab, Genesis 19:37-38.Do you realise we never hear of this family after this act?  Be discerning of everyone around you and understand the influence they carry.

Anything or anyone that seduces you or me from following God should die. Kill it, Charles. The priest who killed the man and the woman stopped the plague of judgement and was blessed with a covenant of peace. The woman was named Cozbi meaning a liar. The seductive spirit is a lying spirit that deceives one, blinding you from the truth and numbing your heart from the fear of God. Deal with the seductive spirit and a covenant of peace is assured.

As I pondered on this it struck me that the world today is fighting a seductive spirit that is silencing the believer in a way that many don't realise. The seductive spirit takes you away from worshipping God. Let nothing or no one take you from the place of worship.

Memory Verse: Num. 25:12

Decree:

Place your name in this scriptures and declare them aloud.

How lovely are your tents, O Jacob! Your dwellings, O Israel! Like valleys that stretch out, like gardens by the riverside, like aloes planted by the Lord, like cedars beside the waters. He shall pour water from his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters. Num. 24:5-7( italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
