Contend for the faith!

Day 299 Reading: The Book of Jude We are living in days that can be best described as the last days. This is evident when you see the backsliding of many who are oblivious to the fact that they are backslidden and don't desire to hear any person pointing out that they are living in sin. Even worse is how believers have taken to discuss the body of Christ with anyone and everyone. Our faith is being fought and many believers are being used to deny the faith yet they are not aware.  Do you know that more persecutions take place today more than any other time in history? Do you know in some places that were once God-fearing, wearing a cross can lead to being fired from your job? Places that worshipped God no longer do. Churches are being converted to shrines and apartments. While this is happening some believers are fighting other believers on matters that don't matter. The reality of Heaven and Hell has been lost by believers leading to many not having a fiery faith ...

Faith

Day 294 Reading: Hebrews 7: 1 - Hebrews 13:25 Faith is a position. Faith is a state of being. Faith in God is confidence in His Word. Faith is to believe in God. The Bible is filled with examples of faith. Jesus while walking on earth mentioned faith a number of times. Each time Jesus spoke of faith in the gospels we see a miracle.  The disciples were with Jesus in a boat when a storm arose yet Jesus was asleep. They woke Him up crying and asking whether He cared that they were perishing. Jesus not only spoke to the storm he however also made a stunning statement of His disciples questioning why they were fearful and had no faith! Mark 4:40 . Every time I read this portion of scripture I always ask whether I am walking in faith. The disciples were riding in a boat with the Master of the Universe and they panicked when trouble arose. How many times do you and I panic when trouble hits? Silence in Heaven doesn't mean God has abandoned you? God cares for you and the storm...

Foundations

Day 293 Reading: Hebrews 1:1 - Hebrews 6:20 In constructing a building they will tell you that the foundation is key to how the structure will stand. We constantly find that the writers of the letters in the New Testament had to grapple with the folk who believed in the superiority of the Law of Moses to the finished work of Jesus Christ. This was an issue that the author of the letter of Hebrews had to contend with. The Book of Hebrews lays foundations of the faith. The author makes us understand that God is the builder of all things and that Jesus is the sure foundation. Why do we need to understand the foundation of our faith and its basic tenets? So that we may not be drawn away from the place of knowing our faith. For many believers today we only have a fuzzy knowledge of Christianity? You may respond and tell me I am not a pastor or you didn't study theology. However, this is the misconception of today that has blinded many. Imagine living life without knowing th...

All Of My Help

Life can be draining sometimes, especially when you have so many demands to address. In this fast paced world we live in its easy to lose focus on who God is to us. With all the shakings going on in the world either economically, politically, socially, or environmentally, its easy to just give up and begin to lose hope. As I sat and reflected on what is happening in this world God began to remind me that I need to constantly remind myself that all of my help comes from Him Psalms 121 . He alone is My Maker and is in the business of making me as the systems of this world cannot do what He can. What we are seeing in the world today is a shaking where everything that is not built on the foundation of God is falling apart. This is not the time to waver from one side to another; neither is it the time to just let life happen. This is the time to get closer to God like never before. This is the time to look to Him and no other. This is not the time to walk in life by how one feels in the...

Don't Quit

Things just seem to be getting tougher a friend said to me recently. As they said this I perceived within their words that they were on the verge of giving up. Many times as we go through life we face difficulties that seem to challenge every belief we hold on to. As I sat and reviewed my life, the year so far, the days ahead it became clear to me that I needed to buckle up and resolve that no matter what the battle or how tough life looks I will hold on to my faith in God and not quit. Looking through the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11 we see people who obtained the promises given by God and each one of them persevered even when all looked lost. Abraham and Sarah waited for 25 years before they held their son. David overcame Goliath by holding on to the faith that Goliath was not bigger than God, and he had no right to terrorise the children of Israel.  My simple encouragement to you this week is don't quit. Reading through Hebrews 11, I was encouraged to stand firm and abso...

NOW!!!!.....

As I was preparing yesterday morning my spirit within was bubbling with a word. This word created a buzz within me, an excitement of the glorious expectations within me being fulfilled. This year will be great and I am convinced not only of its greatness but I will see God's goodness in all that pertains to my life Psalms 27:13b . The word that's been an inspiration to me, even as I write is NOW!!!Faith is found only in the NOW Hebrews 11:1 . As I declared that I am in the NOW season of God's blessing in my life an acronym dropped into my spirit.  N: Nevertheless - Irrespective of the past and present circumstances I am convinced that the NOW moment we are in is also a nevertheless moment. In spite of the present circumstances, God's promises will manifest into reality for those who believe Him wholly.  O: Obedience - This is what turns the key to opening the door of God's blessings. Faith without obedience leads nowhere. It's explicit and implicit obedience t...
