Dedicated to God

Day 41

Reading: Num. 7:1- Num. 8:26

Do you like bible trivia? Do you know the second longest chapter in the bible? Numbers 7 has that distinction. With 89 verses it's the second longest chapter in the entire Bible.

For 12 days an offering from the leader of each tribe was presented and called the dedication offering. The leaders gave a dedication offering as the altar was dedicated to God. Not only was the altar dedicated to God but in bringing the offering the tribes were acknowledging that Altar of God as sovereign over their lives. They were saying we shall never sacrifice to another god only on this altar will we sacrifice to God for only He is God. Charles, learn to give a dedication offering where you dedicate yourself to God and also your life as an altar to God.

God spoke to Moses and this we see constantly from Exodus. However, in this chapter, we see that Moses heard God's voice come from above the mercy seat. God didn't speak from the judgement seat. God is a God of mercy and has not changed. Even today He is speaking from above the mercy seat in Heaven.

Aaron the High Priest was responsible for the lampstand. His duty was to light it and make sure that it was lit from evening to morning as we saw in Leviticus. Aaron was to offer the Levites to God as part of their dedication after the cleansing and purification they underwent. Instead of God taking all the firstborn of Israel He took the Levites to represent all the firstborns of Israel. The Levites were to help Aaron the High priest and help perform the responsibilities of the tabernacle.  From the age of 25, the Levites could enter the service of the tabernacle.

Have you entered the place of your serving in the Tabernacle of God?

Memory Verse: Num. 7:89

Decree

Father, I lay my all before You. I surrender my all. I bring a dedication offering of my all to you. I dedicate my life to you and offering my life as an altar to You alone. I decree that I am a sanctified priest of God set apart for God. I decree that the altar of my heart comes alive in the name of Jesus. Amen.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
