Don't Give Up

As I was making my way home from work in the midst of the rush hour traffic on the underground I began to feel the frustration that was weighing down on the hearts of many. Life is not getting easier and neither is it slowing down.

With all the news and tough situations many are facing today, many are living frustrated lives. When nothing seems to be happening and the mountain one is facing is slowly getting bigger and bigger life becomes a frustrating chore.

As I reflected on the scenario before me of the frustrations that many are facing God reminded me of the fact that Abraham didn't waver at the promise of God but strengthened himself in faith being fully convinced that what God had promised He was well able to do Romans 4:18-21. Your situation is not unique and should not intimidate you causing you to buckle under but you should feed your faith and look up to God who in control.

Don't look at the waves of the sea bellowing all around you but look at the One who created you as He has great plans for you and those plans are for good. Whatever situation you may be facing in life, it's not a permanent situation. Only God is constant, whatever challenges we face in life they are temporary. Adopt the attitude and mindset of David who declared that even though he walked through the valley of the shadow of death he would fear no evil as he was walking through it and would not be consumed by it Psalms 23:4. Understand that you are walking through this situation.Remind yourself that you are walking through the challenge and will emerge victorious.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...
