Be Connected

Many times I recall the nights when we had power black outs as part of an energy saving tactics by the electricity company when growing up. Looking at life while meditating today I realised that many times in life we are not lit up as the power source is disconnected. Ever tried lighting a bulb when the mains are not connected? Many people's lives today are light bulbs that are not connected to the right source and so they flicker in the light they give.

Jesus said that we are the light of this world in the greatest sermon ever preached Matthew 5:14. Light is so crucial that when creation began the first thing God did was decree light Genesis 1:3. In today's world light is important. Imagine working in darkness, or driving in the dark without lights. The result will be death. That's what happens when life is lived without being connected to the power source. God has made us in such a way that we can only give His light when we are connected to Him. Being connected to Him is vital and important if we are to be the light in this world.

Many factors can disrupt the power supply: sin-including that weakness, fear, a mindset that does not embrace God's truth as the standard for living and walking in truth and not a lie. You cannot be living life if you are not lit by the power source. The devil is interested in us so much that he recognises that light is important that he masquerades as the angel of light( 2 Corinthians 11:14) giving false hope; deluding many that they are living well when in fact they are not connected to the true power source, The Light of this World Jesus Christ.

Make every effort to remain connected. Don't assume that just because you think you are connected you will remain connected. Make every effort to delight in God always, be faithful to Him and He will light your ways Job 22:23-28. Connect with people who cause you to be lit up in life and not those who draw you away from the power source. One thing I have realised is that the enemy's lie is only temporarily sweet and God's light is eternal. Choose eternity and be a light for a lie will soon be dim and it will be obvious to all that your light was a lie leaving you empty in life.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...
