Overcoming

Life today is a road that is filled with obstacles and challenges. Some of the obstacles or challenges we face are either man made or simply just life happening. No one is exempt from challenges. There is no status or office in life that grants one a guarantee that says challenge free living. Even Jesus faced challenges that  ensured we saw His humanity and not just His divinity.

We were born to overcome and not to be overcome. Every challenge desires to snuff the life out of us unless one's faith is positioned for victory in every situation of life. I was not born to be a loser in life but a victor and neither were you. You and I have within us the DNA of an overcomer. We have a responsibility to see ourselves in the right perspective to enable us to overcome in life. David didn't see Goliath as a threat but as fodder for the taking. What had challenged an army for 40 days, David with the right perspective saw Goliath as small fry for His God. Maintaining the right perspective in the midst of the challenges of life will ensure victory.

Meditating on the Word of God will produce the right perspective. Meditation on the Word of God allows the Author of the Word to paint the right picture within me of possibility as challenges paint a picture of impossibility. I want to challenge you to rise above the storm and see yourself through the images produced by the meditating on the Word of God Joshua 1:9.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Blessing or ....

To live well is one thing we all desire. I have never met anyone who did not want to live well. By living well for some people it means helping others. For others it means having a successful business. Yet for others it means travelling the world. I have discovered that it is not money that empowers but the blessing of God that empowers. Money is simply one of the many ways that the effects of the blessing may show up. Many times today in society we confuse money with being blessed yet people like Mother Teresa did not flaunt money but her life still is blessing many people round the world. The book of Deuteronomy has challenged me to desire to be blessed. Anyone who has walked with the blessing of God in their live has seen doors open that are a struggle for others. Yesterday I wrote about obedience. What obedience opens our lives to is the operation of the blessing. By choosing to obey the Word we are choosing to open our lives to be blessed. The purpose of being blessed is not self ...

Your Identity and Temptation

Day 245 Reading: Matthew 1:1 - Matthew 4:25 A new beginning is here. A new day; the new season is upon us. As we begin this part of this journey may I encourage you to know that your heart will be refreshed as we study the Word. May hope come alive in you. The Book of Matthew was written primarily to the Jews who were expecting a Messiah. The Old Testament contained promises of a Messiah who would save the people from their enemies and set a Kingdom that would be without end. Matthew in writing this gospel sought to show the reader how some of those prophecies aligned with Jesus.  As I read the portion of scripture today a thought struck my mind about Jesus, the temptations and the tempter. Satan wasn't tempting Jesus just using His needs but the enemy was using the same tactic he used in Eden. The devil doesn't have new tricks. In the Garden of Eden, he made Eve to question the Word and thereby her identity. When she conversed with the serpent the question of ...
