Hold On

Dear Friend,

I noticed that your smile was jaded and that you were exhausted. Life has not been easy for you over the last few months. It seems to have been a slog over the last few months and yet the sun doesn't seem to be shining over your life. I know it feels like you are in a dark tunnel that doesn't seem to have an end right now. I do realise that you are not only positive but very optimistic that all will be well. I just want to encourage you to hold on.

I read a story of a gentleman who was a prisoner of war for years on end. He survived but many didn't and when asked what made him different he said it was because he settled it in his mind that the end of this matter would be good news for him. He was not only optimistic but he held onto the faith that he would overcome in the end John 16:33.

Don't let lives storms take the smile out of your life; the storms should only make you stronger and better. Always remember that in life every situation is not eternal and has an ending that ushers you to the next season. Remember that people care and love you and that no matter the storm you will reach the other end just like the disciples who were told by Jesus to get to the other side but a storm blew across the sea at night and they panicked. Don't loss hope but know that the ending of this story is glorious. Your are on my heart, in my thoughts and prayers.

From the Pit to Safety

The news about the miners rescue has filled the atmosphere with a real lever of optimism. What began as a sad tale has ended well. As I have followed this story over the last 69 days I have had a few thoughts about some of the symbolism of this whole experience. In life we all will find ourselves in a pit (mine) of some sort.Thus the decision to see what I could learn from these great gentlemen. Firstly, they were miners. The world today is one where many feel as though life is beating them down. The different challenges we face in this journey called life have punched many down and out. The fuel price increases, the job cuts, economic recession in different parts of the world, government changes either through the ballot or bullet, governments going broke, floods, drought, to just but name a few things facing many in the world today. It's difficult to go to a party and you don't hear bad news relating to someone you know. The world is changing.
