HOLIDAY

I hope by now you are not bored with my acronyms as I just couldn't resist this one. As you can gather from the title I am on holiday in the beautiful country called Kenya. What is a holiday?

H: Healing- a holiday is a time for healing. As you go through life a holiday allows you to recuperate from the battles of everyday living. 
O: Order- a holiday allows you to see where order is needed. Spring cleaning is simply placing order where disorder is. 
L: Leave- a holiday allows you to leave things that consume us and take us from the place where life flows freely and unhindered from the everyday dealings that sometimes clutter our minds making us ineffective.
I: Inspiring- a holiday enable you to find fresh focus on the dream or purpose one is pursuing.
D: Development- a holiday helps develop perspective. When you look at something from outside the box you see with a better view.
A: Attitude- a holiday breathes fresh air into our lives which gives wings to the dream. Attitude they say and we know is everything. During a holiday one is able to see what attitudal adjustments are necessary to pursue life's dreams. 
Y: Yearning- life's stresses curtail our hunger to grow and improve sometimes but a holiday will provide impetus that causes one's hunger for life's purpose to be pursued afresh.

Even Jesus took the disciples into the desert to rest for a while that they may be refreshed and reinvigorated for the journey ahead. Rest is important as am learning and enjoying right now.

Blessing or ....

To live well is one thing we all desire. I have never met anyone who did not want to live well. By living well for some people it means helping others. For others it means having a successful business. Yet for others it means travelling the world. I have discovered that it is not money that empowers but the blessing of God that empowers. Money is simply one of the many ways that the effects of the blessing may show up. Many times today in society we confuse money with being blessed yet people like Mother Teresa did not flaunt money but her life still is blessing many people round the world. The book of Deuteronomy has challenged me to desire to be blessed. Anyone who has walked with the blessing of God in their live has seen doors open that are a struggle for others. Yesterday I wrote about obedience. What obedience opens our lives to is the operation of the blessing. By choosing to obey the Word we are choosing to open our lives to be blessed. Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness.
