Clear Sky

As autumn is settling in, the nights getting colder, the days filled with rain and slight wind we all know that we are getting ready for winter. As it gets colder we cover up more as we fight the cold draughts that can easily cause sickness. Whilst walking home two days ago the sky was clear which was rather unusual considering the awful weather we were experiencing; the full moon was a beauty to behold and the countless stars shined brightly. Looking into the clear sky I forgot about every situation niggling on my mind and as I stood I was in awe of the beauty and majesty of the brilliance of the clear sky above me.

Too many times in life we allow what is around us to cloud our vision. One thing I learnt that night was that nothing should becloud my vision. I can only go up in life when my vision is clear, however as long as we allow our vision to beclouded by the challenges of life we encounter stagnation and regression. Abraham wanted a son, God had promised him one, yet until he possessed a clear vision he could not go forward. Until you see clearly, you cannot go forward!!

Windscreens have wipers because the driver cannot go anywhere without clear vision. When God took Abraham outside and told him to view the clear sky and count the stars he could see, God was in the process wiping away every cobweb of stagnation and doubt Gen 15:5. To go forward in life one must possess a clear vision. Take stock of where you are going and the journey will become clearer. Don't allow the whispers of failure or distractions from comfortability to scupper your purpose in life. Refuse to allow your present circumstances to hinder your looking up in life. Look up, focus on the vision towards fulfilling your God given purpose and run towards making it happen jumping over every barrier that life throws at you.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
