The Second Coming

Day 300

Reading: Revelation 1:1 - Revelation 22:21

I remember reading the Book of Revelation for the first time as a teenager. It filled me with awe and also left me with questions. It also placed in me a hunger and desire to go to Heaven. This one book in the Bible that many fear reading. Ask many Christians and they will tell you that Revelation fills them with trepidation. Human beings fear death and thinking of the ever after is an issue. The Book of Revelation paints not just a graphic photo of the afterlife but also gives a detailed account of what will happen to all in those days. Here are my few lessons from this awesome Book.
  • Jesus is watching every believer and knows where one's heart is. The first three chapters are opened not just by the encounter John the Apostle has on the island of Patmos but also the admonishments he is given to give as a warning to every church. I am challenged by God's desire for me to overcome in every situation and that He has a blessing designated for every overcomer. Be the overcome God ordained you to be. Don't allow the distractions or circumstances of life to derail your overcoming life.
  • Heaven is beautiful. God has designed the afterlife for us to be in union with Him. Heaven is the dwelling place that we aspire as believers to be united with God. Let me ask you a question. Is your life destined for Heaven where God dwells?
  • Eternal damnation is painful. There is no adequate description of hell that can describe the pain and anguish felt. The Book of Revelation makes it clear that God will send everyone who is disobedient to Him to eternal damnation.
  • Judgement Day. My dear brother and sister the day is coming when the Righteous Judge will judge our works. We shall be weighed on the balance to determine whether we have done/spoken according to the purpose of God.
  • Jesus rules and Satan is a defeated foe. The day is coming when Satan will be no more. Which side will you be? Will you be on the side of Jesus or satan and his cohorts who have lost the battle? I urge you to be counted on the side of Jesus.
There is a book that is mentioned in the Bible. The Book of Revelation mentions that books will be opened however one book will determine our eternal destination. Is your name written in the Lamb's Book of Life?  Repent and turn to Jesus. Live for Him alone.

Memory Verse: Revelation 21:27

Decree:

Revelation 22:12-14
And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
