H.E.L.P.

Everyday in life I have come to discover that humanity was not made to be self reliant but to be interdependent. We all need HELP somewhere along the journey of life. Help comes in many shapes, sizes or forms. It can be physical or verbal; emotional or mental; spiritual or menial. As I thought about what kind of help do I give and need in life I came to realise that the word HELP was an acronym.

     H: Healing- Help will always provide comfort that is a healing balm in some fashion or other.
   E: Encouraging- Help will always lift one from one place to a higher plane or dimension in life.
 L: Life- Help is a life saver. Ask the person who asked for directions when lost and you will discover that the help given was a life saver.
     P: Personal- The best we help we can give is personal. Paying personal attention to another person's challenge pays dividend. 

Let it be said of each one of us that we are a helpful people. I will close with a big thank you to God and all those who have helped me along in life. I realise that I wouldn't be where I am today without your help. Thank you to all who have made my life a better experience despite my flaws or failings in life. May the greatest Helper of all time, help you consistently, causing you to be surrounded by helpers whenever you need help. Thank you Lord for all the help and the helpers you have sent and will send in the future.

The world today is one where many feel as though life is beating them down. The different challenges we face in this journey called life have punched many down and out. The fuel price increases, the job cuts, economic recession in different parts of the world, government changes either through the ballot or bullet, governments going broke, floods, drought, to just but name a few things facing many in the world today. It's difficult to go to a party and you don't hear bad news relating to someone you know. The world is changing. The weather patterns are affected by global warming, societal values held by previous generations are being obliterated by the ones following, and guess what, life for many is a nightmare. From the Pit to Safety

The news about the miners rescue has filled the atmosphere with a real lever of optimism. What began as a sad tale has ended well. As I have followed this story over the last 69 days I have had a few thoughts about some of the symbolism of this whole experience. In life we all will find ourselves in a pit (mine) of some sort.Thus the decision to see what I could learn from these great gentlemen. Firstly, they were miners. Do you realise that we all are miners in life? You may not mine for copper but as a lawyer you are mining legal matters that bring you profit.
