Purpose

This fast paced world we live in has pushed aside the role of family and its consequences are really beginning to rear their heads. Family helps place values and purpose in a life. The breakdown of family values has resulted in youths who have lost the purpose for living. While growing up in Africa we constantly heard of riots with a cause but never saw the wanton madness that we have experienced in the United Kingdom. Riots were usually for a reason but this week we have seen kids express themselves with no reason. These have been riots without a purpose by a purposeless generation.

A life without a purpose will always be destructive. Solomon wrote of the importance of a vision declaring that where no vision existed the people have no restraint Proverbs 29:18. What are the benefits of purpose?
  • Purpose gives you direction.
  • Purpose creates boundaries for behaviour. You won't do what castrates your life because you live for a purpose.
  • Purpose brings joy. A purpose fulfilled results in joyful living.
Lets get on our knees and pray that we may locate the purpose we were created for in Christ we are created for good works Ephesians 2:10. May our lives display His good works wherever we go.

Blessing or ....

To live well is one thing we all desire. I have never met anyone who did not want to live well. By living well for some people it means helping others. For others it means having a successful business. Yet for others it means travelling the world. I have discovered that it is not money that empowers but the blessing of God that empowers. Money is simply one of the many ways that the effects of the blessing may show up. Many times today in society we confuse money with being blessed yet people like Mother Teresa did not flaunt money but her life still is blessing many people round the world. The book of Deuteronomy has challenged me to desire to be blessed. Anyone who has walked with the blessing of God in their live has seen doors open that are a struggle for others. Your Identity and Temptation

Day 245 Reading: Matthew 1:1 - Matthew 4:25 A new beginning is here. A new day; the new season is upon us. As we begin this part of this journey may I encourage you to know that your heart will be refreshed as we study the Word. May hope come alive in you. The Book of Matthew was written primarily to the Jews who were expecting a Messiah. The Old Testament contained promises of a Messiah who would save the people from their enemies and set a Kingdom that would be without end. Matthew in writing this gospel sought to show the reader how some of those prophecies aligned with Jesus.  As I read the portion of scripture today a thought struck my mind about Jesus, the temptations and the tempter.
