Understanding

As this month of June begins, I felt impressed to pray and ask God for "Understanding". As I meditated on this in the morning I wondered why I needed to make that kind of prayer. Whilst still thinking and meditating I realised that without understanding I have only knowledge which is not able to cause a revolution in life. Understanding is able to open up knowledge and allows one to use knowledge for their advantage.

Understanding is what exposes one to revelation that unlocks the doorway to the miraculous; it  is having the veil over knowledge removed and enables one to access the power inherent in the knowledge. Without understanding you may know the promises of God for your life and not see the power locked in them released. Too many times I have walked in life knowing the promises but now with my eyes opened to understand I am able to comprehend what God has and thus unlock the forces locked within the promise. Understanding enables one to walk in obedience Psalms 32:9; understanding produces favour Proverbs 13:15; and also understanding is a wellspring for life Proverbs 16:22. I will close with Apostle Paul's prayer in Ephesians 1:17-18.

17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness.
