Who Do You Choose To Know?

The world today is chasing knowledge at a rate that is incredible. Just the number of emails that are sent in a day from organisations inviting people to seminars as the proclaim to have some piece of knowledge that will empower shows that knowledge is in great supply. The way knowledge is used proves the old adage that knowledge is power is so true. For indeed what you know and what you don't could both be killing you.

Daniel proclaims that there are benefits of having knowledge. Hosea declares that people perish for lack of knowledge. Not knowing having any working knowledge for a problem area leaves one in further trouble. Since it is accepted that knowledge is powerful, which knowledge should I pursue?

God has always desired to have people who are seeking to have knowledge that is from Him. did you know that many inventors were men and women of faith. Sir Isaac Newton considered by many one of the greatest scientists that ever lived, the man behind the laws of mechanics and gravitational laws was a deeply pious man of great faith. God promised that meditating on the Word guaranteed success in life Joshua 1:9. I don't know what you field of endeavour in life is but I want to challenge to make God the benchmark of all knowledge. Why know God? Dan 11:32b, Hos 4:6

  1. Knowing God gives strength. Life's forces have a way of taking out our energy. Seeking the Word produces strength to face life. Its through the Word that we gain insight to overcome.
  2. Knowing God empowers one to carry out great exploits. For one to stand out in life you need to know God. Moses stood out because He stood before God. Elijah had a nation in his hands including the king because He stood before God. Elisha made an axe head float because he knew His God. A person who chooses to know God, will soon attract God in his direction.
  3. Not knowing God leads to destruction. Knowing God allows you to live when others are facing destruction.
  4. Not knowing God leads to rejection. Today's society is dealing with issues pertaining to reject. many people are constantly facing rejection in many ways. Redundancies are another name for rejection. Divorce is another name for rejection. Suicide is another form of rejection. Depression is another form of rejection.

I urge that you make a life based on the Word of God. Seek to know God and He will seek you out. Jer 29:11-13, Jer 33:3 are two passages that show the power of seeking God. May 2010 be the year that you gain insight, foresight and hindsight from your walk with God. It was Noah's walk with God that brought him salvation Gen 6:1-9. Walking with God will result in knowing Him. Choose to follow God and watch as He elevates you above your generation.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
