Enriched with All

Day 278

Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:1 - 1 Corinthians 5:13

Paul kept in touch with his flocks. He felt it was his responsibility to know the affairs of the brethren. When writing to the Corinthians we find that he not only is answering their questions but also dealing with issues they  had. Paul must have been made aware of the issues the believers were dealing with. He even got to know of situations where they erred by entertaining sin. As I meditated on what to write I felt I needed to highlight three things.

Firstly, as a believer understand that God has given you grace that enriches you in everything by Him in all utterance and knowledge 1 Corinthians 1:5. This statement struck me as I read it because it became a spotlight showing me that I had not really understood all that God has given me. God has enriched me with all I require for life. Life may say something else however God desires I reinforce it in me that God has enriched me in all things. I am not waiting for God to enrich me He already has. It's now my responsibility to manifest what God has done. The same way salvation requires my believing and outworking then I have a responsibility to grow into all that God has enriched me with. I woke up with one dominant thought: I am gifted by God; God has placed gifting in me that the world needs! See yourself as enriched by God. God is bigger than any sugar daddy or mummy! Better to be enriched by God than a man.

Secondly, God hates division. Let me confess that as I meditated on the divisions Paul mentions in his letter to the church in Corinth I became more aware of my folly in walking in division many times. God is calling His body to return to the place of loving one another not because we eat the same food but because we are believers. Today there are people who won't call others because they went to another church. God asked me a question? How do we expect to live in heaven when we don't love as God loves? Judgement is beginning in the house of God and those who are not walking in love will discover that they are being left behind. Each person has something to give that will enhance the Kingdom of God.

Thirdly, dont entertain sin. The church in Corinth played with sin. They allowed a brother to take his father's wife and they didnt deal with the matter. As I read this God asked me how much do I entertain sin in my life and those around me. God is holy and when we forget to walk in purity and allow sin to remain in our midst we miss God. We are to love sinners but hate sin. Dont make excuses for sin. Let me make this clear. A drunk person coming to church is not entertaining sin. We should be glad they came to church. Committing adultery is sin and weakens the body of Christ. May God unite our hearts to fear Him Psalms 86:11. God wants us to live upright.

Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 2:4-5

Decree:

1 Corinthians 1:18

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
