Romans

Day 275

Reading: Romans 1:1 - Romans 5: 21

Paul was not just a preacher but also a writer. He wrote two-thirds of the New Testament. His writings form the basis of a lot of present-day teachings. As we go through the letters it amazes me how this gentleman wrote many letters while under guard. He was a prisoner and that did not deter him from fulfilling the mandate of God over his life. Today, the church suffers from a weakness where believers are not able to carry on serving God because they are prisoners of satanic agendas which range from sickness to the issues of this life. Paul wrote caring about the state of the church. If we all today wrote our lives with such an attitude and care for others the world would be a better place. You wonder why I use the word 'wrote', because our lives are writing history that others will read your life story and I pray it makes great reading.

The Book of Romans gives the theological understanding of the work of the cross. Paul begins by pointing out the wrath of God is coming and gives the reasons. He declares that all have sinned both Jew and Gentile Romans 3:23. Paul in writing to letter to the church in Rome sought to help them understand that works via the Law couldn't give a man the salvation of God. Mankind would only receive salvation by faith in the gospel of the grace of God.

Paul declares that as a result of faith in Jesus we are justified for salvation. The sacrifice of Jesus is enough to save mankind and results in our justification in heaven. The same way during Atonement the priest laid his hands on the goat and all sin was transferred to it all sin was laid on Jesus that we all may be made justified resulting in our having peace with God. Faith is the key to receiving the benefits of salvation. Without faith, we cannot attest of the gospel of grace that is in Jesus Christ.

Let me end by urging every believer to read the 1st chapter of Romans carefully. Many of the things ailing society are written there. Notice the wrath of God is coming upon the earth because many have refused God's medication. Understand the importance of giving God the glory and maintain a heart of gratitude as many who knew God have become lost because they have not given any glory to God or thanked Him Romans 1:21.

Memory Verse: Romans 1:16-17

Decree:

Romans 4:20-21
He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
