The Adventure- Reading the Word

Today marked a new beginning of a learning adventure. To read the world's best seller in a set number of days. Its not just about reading it but to also encourage my friends who are walking through this adventure with me. Surely our lives will never be the same again. So over the next few days-90 days to be precise- I will blog on a daily basis my thoughts as I undertake this challenge. My reason for blogging is to encourage others. I have found that I am most alive when am encouraging others. That's what I live for: to be an encourager always. Life at times can be discouraging thus the need for relationships that can bring encouragement. Encouraging words today are like water to a thirsty soul. So as you read I hope you are encouraged to be the best that God intended for you.

God is a God of process. He could have spoken the whole world into being but instead followed a process in creation. Many times when faced with a problem all I want is a solution but fail to see that God works differently from my human perspective. God is not into fast foods but into principles that govern processes. When He was faced with a challenge as found in Gen 1:2 He first spoke light. The process to the solution is to first seek for light that will illuminate. Did you know that you cannot create matter in a vacuum? Ever heard the expression "creating something from nothing", that what creating light in darkness is. Darkness at times connotes a vacuum. You cannot live in a vacuum. Human beings lose consciousness in a vacuum.

One very important quality that one requires to go through this challenge is to be persistent. Reading the Word is not like watching a movie. Some parts of the Word we may not understand why they are there but they are life and spirit to our very souls. The Word of God is life. Read it and see the life of God ooze out of you. Read it and watch your life become transformed before your very eyes.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
