Get Ready....

As we continue with the adventure we will find may promises in the bible that relate to different situations in life. As the new year approaches it amazes me how many people are speaking of new year resolutions while they take stock of the current year. I want to encourage anyone who is thinking seriously about the new year to build expectations. Society rarely builds on hope today. We don't seem to have positive expectations as headlines. Its important to build expectations especially when we have been through tough times as this year has been. Build a bank of positive expectations as you look ahead. One man who had to build a bank of positive expectations was David.

Reading 1st Samuel 30, we see David's life encounter the forces of destruction like never before. He was nearly killed by his own men; grieved at the loss of his family and was soon to discover loneliness when his own men wanted to kill him. In the midst of trial ,David did one very important thing that I will recommend for anyone preparing for 2010....He strengthened himself in the Lord.

David understood where his source of victory was. David had a close knit relationship with God that he could encourage himself in the Lord when everyone wanted a slice of him. He knew that the storm he was facing would only turn if he sought God. Notice that he sought God for direction in the storm. He sought for divine assistance in dealing with the situation he was facing. David needed a Word from heaven that guaranteed his victory. He knew that no enemy would overcome the strength of God. He knew that with God he had leverage that was exponential. He understood that unless he had the right mindset he would not recover. Revelation gives birth to restoration. In strengthening himself he was seeking The Repairer of any breach; he was identifying himself with the One who has given him authority to prevail in life.

I want to encourage you to seek God as you prepare to go into 2010. As you allow God to speak to you He will strengthen, encourage, build, fortify, restore, increase, direct you through His Word. Let 2010 be the year that you pursue your destiny, the year you overtake the enemies that have stolen from you and your generations, and recover all that God has ordained for you.

Get ready to pursue, overtake and recover in 2010 as revelation will produce a road map for the journey ahead.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
