Sacrificial Gifts

As we celebrate Christmas I hope you have a wonderful time where you not only enjoy the value of relationships but also get to encounter the love of God in ways never known. A friend called me today and blessed me thoroughly. They wanted to know what I was doing as I didn't have close family with me. They wanted to know if they could get me to attend a party with friends who are like family. May this holiday be one filled with surprises that fill you with joy and laughter.

Christmas is the beginning of a story of God's love through sacrifice. A sacrifice offered to God results in a blessing. A sacrifice offered by Solomon resulted in an encounter with God that was life changing. The resulting blessing was wisdom. We still speak of Solomon's wisdom today. A sacrificial blessing may result in generational blessings. It was a sacrificial offering that resulted in a covenant with Abraham that resulted in God's blessing.

I want to encourage you that as you celebrate this Christmas be like God and give sacrificially to someone. Solomon gave to God sacrificially and wisdom was the response. As you give and celebrate this season may God meet with you.

From the Pit to Safety

The news about the miners rescue has filled the atmosphere with a real lever of optimism. What began as a sad tale has ended well. As I have followed this story over the last 69 days I have had a few thoughts about some of the symbolism of this whole experience. The world today is one where many feel as though life is beating them down. The different challenges we face in this journey called life have punched many down and out. The fuel price increases, the job cuts, economic recession in different parts of the world, government changes either through the ballot or bullet, governments going broke, floods, drought, to just but name a few things facing many in the world today. It's difficult to go to a party and you don't hear bad news relating to someone you know. The world is changing.
