Invest Your Time Wisely.

Today we step into the second book in the bible, Exodus. As we embark on this book I want to encourage you to persist. We have a lot of people with well meaning intentions but no story of finishing what they started. I don't want anyone to feel guilty that they are lagging behind or that they can't find the time to complete the daily readings. There are many issues slowing us down.

Time is an issue. We have to work, play, sleep, rest, relate, you name it our time is under pressure severely. I overheard someone saying that this adventure is easy for me as a pastor, I have all the time to read the bible. I burst out laughing in my heart. What a lie!!! Yes even those working for the Lord full time have to contend with this issue of finding time to read the bible. In fact, may I confess something to you. I have discovered that it easy to not read the bible and think that you are serving God. I came to a point of realising that if I don't read the Word I am missing out on instructions from the Greatest Instructor of all time!

If you want to be an achiever then you must prioritise. If you don't prioritise the Word of God in your life then you won't have the time to read it. If reading the Word is not treated as an important aspect of life then you will discover that the promises in the covenant don't work for you. To love the Word requires time in the Word. Just the same way relationships require time investments I have made the choice to invest time in the Word.

Lastly recognise one thing. You deplete what you spend. You receive a return on what you invest. Invest your time in the Word and watch God rewrite your life story with days of joy and fulfilment. Invest in the eternal Word of truth and affect not only time but eternity.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
