Relationship

Relationships come at a price. A price that is determined by how far the parties concerned want to develop intimacy. Human relationships are very interesting. History takes us through many relationships where we see wars and accords or treaties shaping the world. The bible is a book filled with relationship. Not only is it about relationship between God and humanity but also relationships at various personal levels.

The book of Ruth is one that I love for the story of God's love contained therein. As I think about this book I have been asking myself one question. How far am I willing to go for relationship? Ruth was willing to go to an unknown place because of relationship. She was from Moab her mother in law from Israel. She was willing to be mentored. She tied herself to her mother in law connecting with her not only through relationship but was willing to connect with Naomi's God.

Today we find people are willing to relate but only on their terms. People are not willing to relate by laying down their lives. Breakups in every shape and form happen whenever we are not willing to lay down our lives. When we choose to be selfish and insist on our terms we are many times refusing God's best. I always wonder what would have been the story if the other sister in law had also followed Naomi. Maybe her story would have been different. Check out what parameters you have in place regarding relationships. They may be the reason you are not moving forward. One sister in law was willing to risk and relate to another level and is listed in the genealogy of Jesus. This is not only to the ladies but also to the gents. The success of any relationship is in laying down our lives.

Finally I want to challenge to follow God without any inhibitions or reservations. Follow Him to the max and you will discover that He has a special place for you. Ruth followed the wisdom of an elder and obtained a promise that was greater than expected. Do likewise and watch God raise you to a new level of greatness.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
