A Future and Hope

Day 203

Reading: Jeremiah 27:1 - Jeremiah 29:32

Many times we go through periods in life where we question our existence. We wonder why me? We ask questions that pertain to our circumstances and steps that may have led to the pit we find ourselves. Hey, as you read this and maybe you have never faced a dark moment in life, keep living you will soon experience it and this blog will make sense. In such times where we cannot understand why, where, how, when, or whatever let me encourage you that God still has a plan for you.

In Jeremiah, we have so far seen him prophesy about the captivity of the nation of Judah. He faced a lot of critics and was even almost killed by the mob because his prophecies were not palatable. Sometimes as a believer, we need to understand that God will not speak what we desire but what we need. When faced with trouble many times as believers we don't want to listen to anything to do with correction. We don't want God to point out where we have failed. Hey, I know I am guilty of this many a time. However, I have come to appreciate that God is a loving God and will only correct me because He loves me. A parent who doesn't correct a child really has no revelation of the responsibility of love.

One of the most popular verses of scripture is found in Jeremiah 29:11. This was one of the first verses that I memorised. Every time I sat for national exams it was the scripture the priest prayed with. Today you will hear this scripture dropped in almost every word of encouragement when trying to comfort those who are faced with doubts about the intentions of God in their lives.

Looking at this scripture in context we see that Jeremiah was sending a letter to all those who were captives in Babylon. It is them that God was encouraging that even though they had been captives in Babylon, God desired they settle in Babylon and to also know that His mind and heart was towards their wellbeing. As I read this portion of scripture today I was revived to know that God desires I have the best even when I am not in the land of promise. You may not be where you desire, however, know that God has great thoughts about you. Understand that God desires that you know that He has great plans for you. The future God has for you is one that is bright. The path of the just can only shine brighter and brighter Proverbs 4:18

Every good promise of God carries hope and a future. You have a responsibility to align yourself with the promise, believe God for its manifestation and pray it into being. Don't just sit there and say His word says, you need to speak the Word, meditate of the word and do the Word to see success in your future Joshua 1:8.  To unlock the promise of Jeremiah 29:11 the instructions made in the following verses will unlock the glory of the promise. Seek God with all your heart and You will find Him. God promises that when you find Him you will be brought back from every captivity. Seek God, He won't fail you.

Memory Verse: Jeremiah 29:11-13

Decree:

Jeremiah 27:5
I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are on the ground, by My great power and by My outstretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed proper to Me. (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
