Excuses

Day 196

Reading: Jeremiah 1:1 - Jeremiah 3:25

Welcome to the Book of Jeremiah. I pray that as we start this book that your life will rise to new heights as you walk with God. Jeremiah begins with you and me being introduced to the call of God over him. We see the discussion between God and Jeremiah. This portion of scripture for me is very pertinent to my destiny. This scripture has spoken to me for many years as God has used it to encourage me to do His work.

God's conversation with you today begins with His proclamation that before you were born He already had ordained your purpose. No one is born by accident. You are not a mistake. It doesn't matter how you arrived here, God knew of your arrival and He had a plan for you. Live with the confidence that God has a plan for you! Locate the plan to secure His backing.

We all have excuses when sent by God. Jeremiah gave the same excuse as Moses. They both stated that they were not eloquent. However, God overruled both. For Moses, God gave him Aaron to be his mouthpiece, for Jeremiah God encouraged him to be bold. Learn to be bold and watch God back His word in your mouth.

Another excuse Jeremiah gave was his age. God is not bound by time so to give Him an excuse that is time-related is a non-starter. It doesn't matter what your age is with God, Sarah discovered that God's timeline is not the biological clock in her. God is outside of time. Moses was 80 when God called him. 80 years is considered too late to start a bid to contest leadership at any level however not God. David was young when God came calling. When God calls, you step into His time. Please don't see God through your spectacles of time. See through the lens of eternity and understand that God the Eternal One will step into time to bend time for you.

Jeremiah was fearful which made him timid. He didn't want to speak to people. He didn't want a front row seat to serve God. He wanted to remain the backbencher. God who calls empowers us to be bold and to serve Him fearlessly! From today say bye bye to fear. Serve God boldly and watch as He defends His word in your mouth.

Lastly, God asked Jeremiah what do you see? Jeremiah stated the answer which God applauded and affirmed. Until you see that which God has placed in front of you correctly, you can't possess what God has planned for you. See the promises of God as they are and the promises of God will become realities.  See through God's lens and you can be sure that God will perform His word. God is waiting for you, will you respond to Him?

Memory Verse: Jeremiah 1:5

Decree:

Jeremiah 1:10
See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out and to pull down, to destroy and to throw down, to build and to plant.” (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...
