Cry To God

Day 210

Reading: Lamentations 1:1 - Lamentations 2:22

Jeremiah was sent to warn his generation of impending disaster. His generation didn't heed his call to return to God. Today we find ourselves in such similar times. Many today are not heeding the call to worship the One True God Jehovah.  We find that Jeremiah wrote a second book and its aptly named Lamentations. These were his cries for the salvation of his people. The Book of Lamentations begins with Jeremiah weeping about the fallen state of the city of God.

Many today are not burdened for their generation. We live in a me, myself and I world and we must be careful that we don't view life through this spectacles. Jeremiah lived for God's purposes only and as we saw in Jeremiah it had consequences that were painful. Reading through the Book of Jeremiah I was struck by how much Jeremiah must have been a man of prayer. Burdened to lift his nation before God. Is it any wonder that he received such prophetic words.

Are you burdened for your nation or are your prayer points only for you and your family. God is looking for a person or people who will cry to Him about their nations, cities, generations not just family or personal ones. Remember God promises that those who pray for the well being of Jerusalem they shall prosper Psalms 122:6. How much more should we pray for our nations or where you find yourself that you may prosper? God directed the children of Israel who were carried away captive in Babylon to seek the well being of the city that they may have peace Jeremiah 29:7. One of the reasons we're not seeing God move in our cities is because we have become too focused on our issues and forgotten about the nature of God's Kingdom. God's Kingdom is not about just me, it's about a people and that includes that neighbour in the city who needs your prayers to meet with God.

I urge you to include praying for your city, nation, the government in your daily communion with God. This will release God's flow of wealth to you. In times where we need God's protection, it's in the place of prayer that angels are released to protect us as we seek God. Nehemiah travelling from one place to Jerusalem saw the hand of God after prayer and fasting was made. Learn to pray for your nation. Don't just lament about the issues facing our governments and nations. Only God's power can change the land.

Memory Verse: Lamentations 2:19

Decree:

Lamentations 2:19
“Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the watches; pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord. Lift your hands toward Him for the life of your young children, who faint from hunger at the head of every street.” (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
