Launch Out

Day 256

Reading: Luke 4:1 - Luke 7:50

Ever been to a launch of a product? I have been to a few launches especially music launches. The glitz, glamour and just the whole atmosphere and auspicious occasion of a launch leaves a person feeling elated and in awe. I have also been to a few church launches. I actually have one I'm attending in a few weeks. The atmosphere of a church launch is very different from a product launch. The atmosphere of a church launch is one full of awe and it leaves a sense of purpose heavy on one's mind and heart. One thing I have learnt about a launch it is the beginning of pursuing purpose.

Jesus while busy with His ministry gets to minister from Peter's boat. He taught the multitudes and then turns to Peter and asks him to launch into deeper waters to catch fish. The timing was not fishing time. They had toiled all night and Peter let Jesus know that they hadn't caught anything. Jesus was not followed by lazy disciples. They fished at night and were following Jesus by day. Peter obeyed the Word. He listened to the instruction and even though it was an instruction that made no sense he obeyed. Peter understood that when Jesus said launch, it was time to go. Too many times we wait for the perfect conditions.

Peter did tell Jesus about the fact that they had toiled all night and caught nothing, however, he stated nevertheless he would obey. He understood that Jesus was Miracle Worker and fish were not out of His jurisdiction. Peter launched into the deep immediately. Many times we miss out on the miraculous because we allow common sense to override the instruction of God.

What was Peter using to launch out into the deep? Jesus was in Peter's boat and declared the Word to others before giving Peter the instruction to launch out. A launch pad for a rocket is a place where loads of fuel for propulsion is used. The instruction to launch generates power to overcome gravity. The Word has power and authority within  to cause you to rise into the space that God has designed for you. The launch pad for your pursuit of purpose is the instruction about what you have given to God. God desires your life to fish men and women. God desires for you to use your talents and gifts to launch into the deep. Many today haven't heard the command to launch because they haven't given God anything to use. The instruction to launch came after Peter had given his business - his boat- to Jesus for ministry. Have you really given to God your all to use for His glory? Don't expect to hear the instruction unless you have surrendered to God.

We are living in days where we see many who launch out but have no backing of the Launcher.  Unless one is sent of God, their launch will not go far. I would rather have heaven's backing than launch because of the strength of gifting or the influence of humanity.

The harvest is ripe. Souls are in the valley waiting for you and I. The time to launch is not tomorrow but now. Jesus desires that we become fishers of men however many of us are not willing to leave the boat we have ridden so long. Don't allow carnal thinking to make you curtail your launching into the deep as there lies great wealth in your obedience. Don't fall for the lie that you don't have resources. The One instructing you to launch is the Creator and He has everything together. As you obey Him and launch you will harvest what you have toiled for before and didn't receive anything before.

Memory Verse: Luke 5:38

Decree:

Luke 5:5
But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
