Day 255
Reading: Luke 1:1 - Luke 3:38
Luke the author of the third gospel writes diligently seeking to show the reader of the validity of the accounts surrounding Jesus. The accounts are well researched by an inquisitive mind and thus when one reads the Gospel of Luke we find it contains details that give life to the accounts being told. With this in mind, we see that Luke writes the account of the birth of John the Baptist and that of Jesus differently from Matthew and Mark.
Both Elizabeth and Mary carried children that were of a divine mandate. Mary on hearing the message of the angel Gabriel submits willingly to be used of God. Elizabeth had to deal with the fact that her hubby couldn't talk because he didn't believe the word of God and was thus struck with dumbness until the day he named his son as heaven desired. Elizabeth encourages Mary to believe God because He performs or fulfils His Word. The more I thought on this scripture the more I became convinced that I needed to meditate on reasons why God will fulfil His Word in my life. Here are just a few reasons why there will be a performance or a fulfilment of God's Word in your life.
- God's Word is Light. Psalms 119:105. David declared that God's Word is a lamp and light along the journey of life. Believe that God's Word will bring light to every darkness in your life. Don't forget that when faced with darkness God spoke Light, not more darkness.
- God's Word is exalted above His Name Psalms 138:2. You and I bear names that people call us by. Yet God says that His Word is above His name which is the most powerful name in the Universe. God's names describe His attributes, His Word not only describes Him but shows us His actions and promises.
- Obedience to God's Word results in blessings Deuteronomy 28:1-2. Saul was rejected as king by God because he rejected the Word 1 Sam. 15:26. Make the choice to do the Word always. Be a doer, not just a reader or hearer.
- God's Word will always come to pass Joshua 21:45. Thus the psalmist declared that the Word is proven Psalms 18:30. What does it mean that the Word is proven? It implies that the Word is tried, tested and stands firm.
- Prayer activates the Word. David prayed that God would establish His Word 2 Sam. 7:25. Prayer is the place where when we submit to the will of God we are transformed to become what the Word of God instructs. Let your prayer be that God establishes His Word in you Psalms 119:38.
- God's Word is right Psalms 33:4. Understand that by the Word of God the world was created and God cannot alter His Word Psalms 89:34. God never forgets His word and releases His angels to fulfil His Word Psalms 103:20.
- God's Word is sent and brings healing and deliverance Psalms 107:20. When God sends His Word it does not return to Him void Isaiah 55:10-11. When God sends His Word He melts barriers Psalms 147:18.
Faith activates the Word. One must fully trust God. Faith does not have one foot in the world while the other one is in Him. Total trust in God is the bridge to seeing the Word come to pass. Throw yourself on God wholly and see His Word come to pass.
