Welcome Holy Spirit

Day 270

Reading: Acts 1:1 – Acts 4:37

Welcome to the Book of Acts. Every believer living today continues this book. Luke the writer of the Gospel of Luke also writes the Book of Acts. Luke being a medical doctor writes with detail. Each miracle or story told is filled with detail. I can almost imagine him interviewing the participants to get a picture to present to the reader.

Jesus while walking on earth kept speaking about the Holy Spirit. In the Book of John Jesus reveals the purpose of the Holy Spirit. John the Baptist while announcing Jesus had stated that Jesus would baptise people in the Holy Spirit. The word baptise in the Bible reveals an immersion and not a sprinkling. Jesus is the Baptiser in the Holy Spirit and fire Luke 3:16

Why do we as believers need the Holy Spirit?

·     Power for our witness. Jesus directed the disciples to remain in Jerusalem until they were endued with power from on high. This power would enable them to do exploits.
·     The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, righteousness and judgement. Words don’t convict one’s soul. It’s the influence of the Holy Spirit on the words heard by the hearer that bring about a conviction of the heart.
·     To teach us. The Holy Spirit would instruct and guide the disciples into all truth. The Holy Spirit unveils what is hidden enabling the believer to maximise their potential.
·     Boldness. The Holy Spirit emboldens the believer to stand tall in the midst of threats.
·     The Holy Spirit gives utterance. Many words are spoken today however the utterance of the Holy Spirit affects lives for eternity.

Jesus declared that the Father was more than willing to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Luke 11:13. Ask for the Holy Spirit and you will be stunned to discover there is so much more God has for you and me. Lord give me more of the Holy Spirit. Baptise me in the Holy Spirit and fire, Lord.

Memory Verse: Acts 1:8

Decree:

Acts 3:19

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord (italics mine)

Now is....

Everyday I seek to share something that I have learnt through the daily reading. I make a choice to discipline myself not to write too much as we inundated with a lot of reading material. Feel free to add comments because that way we share and thus encourage one another to grow into the fullness of Christ. Today I am amazed at the fact that God will always remember His covenant and fulfill the promise. I want to list five words in the order they appear in one scripture that showed God is at work in our lives. Remembered : My God will never forget me. To be delayed is not to be denied as God will surely remember. God spoke and said to Sarah that He would return at the appointed time; at the right season!!! I do believe that we are in a season where we will see God begin to act on the promises that seem forgotten. Or better put in another way there is a resurrection of seemingly forgotten prophecies that is about to take place. Dry bones are beginning to take shape. Listened : No longer ...

Blessing or ....

To live well is one thing we all desire. I have never met anyone who did not want to live well. By living well for some people it means helping others. For others it means having a successful business. Yet for others it means travelling the world. I have discovered that it is not money that empowers but the blessing of God that empowers. Money is simply one of the many ways that the effects of the blessing may show up. Many times today in society we confuse money with being blessed yet people like Mother Teresa did not flaunt money but her life still is blessing many people round the world. The book of Deuteronomy has challenged me to desire to be blessed. Anyone who has walked with the blessing of God in their live has seen doors open that are a struggle for others. Yesterday I wrote about obedience. What obedience opens our lives to is the operation of the blessing. By choosing to obey the Word we are choosing to open our lives to be blessed. The purpose of being blessed is not self ...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
