God is Awesome

Day 156

Reading: Psalms 61:1 - Psalms 70:5

I woke up thinking of the awesomeness of God. God gives you and I breath without asking. Just think of the many times God has been good to you. Reading through the Psalms I am enjoying the various descriptions of God's awesomeness over every area of creation.

We make prayer to God because we understand that we can run to Him. He is our Safety and Rock when we are shaken by the circumstances of life. God is able to give us a support to go through life. God is a Pillar that one can hold onto when in need of help. God is also a Shelter who provides cover from the elements of this life. In the olden times during the war, the people hid in a tower. The safest rower we can hide is God. He is a Strong Tower providing protection from our enemies.

Waiting on God enables us to enjoy His Awesomeness. Waiting on God enables on to enjoy the goodness and power of God. A waiter waits on your table receiving your orders and delivering what you requested. Learn to see waiting on God as the moment where you engage and discuss the menu with a waiter. This will enable you to enjoy seasons of waiting on God. Many times we rush through prayer missing out on the interaction and communication that comes from silence in waiting for God to express Himself. Why wait on God you ask? In God is our salvation.

David understood that men desire power. He also came to a place of realisation that power is only found in God. Power belongs to God and no one else. When one appreciates that power belongs to God then Heaven is able to provide backing in fulfilling all the things that we desire. When power is viewed correctly then we are able to use it properly not to oppress others but to enhance the lives of those whom we serve.

Meditating on the awesomeness of God gives us life. Learn to not just read the Psalms but to also reflect on the virtues extolled of God. Take them and let them become part of your worship to God. Understand that the world will worship God as a sign of His awesome power. By awesome deeds, God answers us in displaying His authority over all creation.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
