Hope

Day 154

Reading: Psalms 41:13 - Psalms 50:23

One statement one keeps hearing many saying is "I hope so".  I hope to do well, I hope you receive good news are statements we make or hear many days. Hope is a commodity we trade through life. Without hope, our lives are in a state of paralysis. Hope is a driver of the soul.

Life is a journey that takes us through many challenges. Challenges that usually tend to becloud our vision hence our language becomes despondent and despair. Before long a person facing the fight of their life is faced with one question. It is a question of hope. It is hope that makes one believe that no matter the odds they will make it to the other side. I like saying hope is the bridge that enables me to cross from one side of the river bank to the other.

Hope is like an oar that keeps the boat moving when you cant see how or where but you know you have to keep rowing to get through to their destination you desire. David said that tears had been his food all night long. He questioned where his hope was, however, he encouraged himself to keep his hope in God.

The important lesson about hope is that we need to understand that hope must be kept in God and not anyone else. When your hope is in God faith arises to make the promises of the covenant of God alive releasing the power of fulfilment. Without hope in God faith is futile.

Praise is a catalyst of hope. When facing challenges in life rise up in praise and see hope rise within. Praise causes you to focus on God and not the challenges. Give God a sacrifice of praise and see His glory rest on you. Live a life of praise to God and your fuel tank of hope will be overflowing.

Memory Verse: Ps. 50:23

Decree:

Psalms 49:15
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, for He shall receive me. (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
