Keys to Victory

Day 124

Reading: 2 Chronicles 12:1 - 2 Chronicles 16:14

Every day I desire to see the victory of God over situations I encounter and I know that I am not alone in having this desire. We all want a good life, no a better life. And that includes having a state or level of joyous living free of the shackles of pain and evil. As I read the passage of scripture assigned for today, it dawned on me that God wanted to teach me different keys to living a victorious life. What made the 3 kings we are told about to see the hand of God?

Firstly, walk with God all the days of your life. Rehoboam enjoyed God's goodness for a while before the ruler of Egypt came and struck a blow. Rehoboam was attacked because he departed from the ways of God after God had established him. Don't become the believer who seeks God in trouble and then when all is good you run away and forget God. Trouble will bring you back to God just like Rehoboam came back running to God when trouble struck.

Humility will draw God towards you and cause a turn around of the situation. All the kings who were humble to recognise God as Master saw the hand of God in their affairs. King Asa, cried to God when the Ethiopians arrived with an army of 1 million strong. God gave them the victory that was unbelievable. Later Asa forgot God's deliverance and refused to humble himself before God when he was attacked Baasha the king of Israel. King Asa again refused to humble himself and seek God when his feet were struck with a disease. Pride was his downfall.

Thirdly, let your reliance be found only in God. God's eyes are seeking one who relies on Him only that God may show Himself strong for that person. I don't know what battles you are facing, rely on God for victory. Speak to yourself words of affirmation of trust in the Lord.

Fourthly, let the praises of God be found in your mouth and life. The nation of Judah when confronted with a battle not only prayed seeking God's hand in victory but they also shouted and as they shouted God fought for them. Your silence in the midst of a battle will give your enemy victory whereas when we praise God we invite Him onto the scene. Learn to praise God always.

Fifth, do what is good and right in the eyes of God. Many of us are denied victory because our actions are not good nor right before God. I'm not talking about the evil acts but those things we do that we lie to ourselves its ok yet they are wrong. For example, someone told me its ok to take things from the office and use them for their business. Their office won't realise the stuff is missing. They didn't realise this is stealing not a transfer of goods or a positive reallocation of resources.

Finally, be strong and unwavering in your pursuit of God. Remove every foreign altar in your life. Worship only God and build only an altar for God. Be consistent in seeking God. Hunger after God and surely you will testify of how the blessings  followed you.

Memory Verse: 2 Chronicles 16:9

2 Chronicles 15:7 "But you, be strong and do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!” (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
