Contend for the Promise

Day 65

Reading: Josh. 11:1-Josh. 14:15

Learning to daily contend for faith is a lesson many, including me, don't like. We all love peace and war doesn't make it easy. However, one must contend for the land(promise). The land for you and I may be health, a job, business, well being, career, ministry or any promise in the Bible. Faith is raising a shield of the promises of God and contending with the Sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God.

I believe that the promises of God are alive and God has not changed His position towards them. God is looking for those who will be desirous to see His Word established. Joshua heeded to do according to the instructions Moses had given regarding taking over the land. In every place the people were executed and apart from the Gibeonites all others were killed in battle. Notice that God brought about the battle. Stop fighting God who is causing you to battle your enemies so as to take over the land. Listen to the voice of God even when the enemy has arrived and is seemingly more in number than you.

'Conquerers are people with testimonies of conquests. Charles, stand in front of a mirror and understand that you are a conqueror. Point at yourself and declare it aloud that you were born to conquer not to be conquered. The giants in the land are your fodder. Arise and conquer them knowing that God is with you.'

Every day walk with the understanding that there remains much land to possess. Don't grow weary of the warfare. Understand that to take the land warfare is not only necessary but the rule of life for conquests. Fight and learn to fight well. Fight to conquer; fight to prevail; fight to maintain the promise and fight to keep off the enemy.

Caleb had been promised that he would enter the promised land. In Numbers 14, Joshua and Caleb were promised that they would enter the promised land. Everyone else above the age of 40 would die. Caleb arrives at this place and stakes his claim to a portion of land. Caleb was renewed in vigour by the promise and wouldn't hesitate at taking on the giants. Learn to be renewed in strength as you wait for the manifestation of the promise. Caleb never lost hope that he would set his feet on the land again. He received his portion because he wholeheartedly followed the Lord.

Memory verse: Josh. 11:6

Decree:

Father, Thank You that in You I am more than a conqueror. I decree that every mountain standing before me I will possess. I am flourishing and my strength is renewed. With the same vigour, I received the prophecy about my promised land I will take the land and dwell in it. I decree that I will serve God wholly in Jesus name. Amen

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...
