Deborahs Arising

Day 70

Reading: Josh. 4:1- Josh. 5:31

Women have for so long been unappreciated as prophetic leaders in society. I am grateful that in the Old Testament, which is a shadow of the template of how God desires things, we meet Deborah who was a leader of the people. Her reign as a judge begins while the people are in captivity. God is raising women in this hour to be midwives of nations destinies.

Barak missed an opportunity to strike the enemy. Barak means lightning or thunder. An opportunity to strike a blow to the enemy was given however, he missed his opportunity and fame went to a woman. Women didn't go to war yet Barak asked the prophetess to go to war with him. Please before I am accused of preaching inequalities, I am only writing from the view of the Biblical history times. The scriptures are clear that Barak went to war with ten thousand men and Deborah the prophetess. Why did Barak want Deborah to go with him? She was God's mouthpiece and he desired to have God's voice right there in the midst of battle.

Do you go when God asks you to go? Barak only agreed to go with a condition. Which conditions are you giving to God before doing that which He has asked you to do? Look within yourself and find the motivations behind the conditions placed on God. Deal with them as they may cause your victories to be given to someone else. Was Barak fearful? Was he doubting if God would give him victory? Was it unbelief rooted in him because of the captivity they were under? Please let one lesson we learn to be that one should never attach conditions to God when He instructs us. Has not the Lord gone before you? Goodbye, every excuse!

Victory will lead to a song of praise. Learn to rejoice and recount the victories of God in your life. Village life had ceased then Deborah arose. God is waiting for us to arise as life in the towns, cities, villages have ceased from being what it ought to be. War at the gates of life was because they changed whom they worshipped. When God is exchanged for gods there is a war at the gates of life.

We also learn another lesson of warfare from the song. The Bible speaks of the stars not being in alignment with Sisera the general who was leading the army of Canaan. This reveals not only is God the God of the Heavens but that also when God aligns victory in your favour everything in the cosmos works in your favour. May the days ahead see everything align in your favour.

Memory Verse: Judges. 5:31

Decree:

Father, I love You. Your love towards me is never-ending. I ask for mercy regarding every time You sent me and I gave conditions for my going. Forgive me for not trusting You wholly. Today, I dedicate myself to you and yield to Your will. I decree that I shall see Your victories in all areas of life. May God's enemies perish and cause me to shine like the Sun for I love Him in Jesus name. Amen.

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
