Beware of Complacency

Day 186

Reading: Isaiah 32:1 - 34:17

In the midst of my Bible Study of the Book of Isaiah yesterday I heard the Lord clearly warn me. Yes, today I will share about this warning. Even as I write my heart is still trembling to seek the face of God that I may not fail in my duty. God is concerned that many today including me only want to hear the good and never the tough message of love that comes from correction. God is a loving Father who not only cares about us and is willing to show us His goodness with gifts however God is also not unjust.  He cannot see wrong and overlook it.

As I read today's portion of scripture, I understood why God had warned me. It was a warning against complacency. Many times we become complacent and never hunger for God as we once did. I realised that I had become complacent in certain areas and needed to return to God. We live in a world that is being judged and the complacent one will suffer for not keeping the flame of God alive. Many also have become complacent in their generosity. The generous devise good and many today because of lack aren't generous. The occurrences in the world reveal the judgement of God. We as believers have a responsibility to walk the path of the righteous in the midst of sin in the world.

This is a call to return to the place of righteousness. Righteousness is not just about a state that God has bestowed on us. We are to carry out our lives in accordance with the standards of the righteous Judge. God expects to see righteousness in our actions not just our confession. Don't think that by lying about your income and declaring you have been made righteous by God all is well. Too many believers will discover on judgement day that God was never pleased with this duality. We cannot have one leg in the world and one in the Kingdom of God. The righteousness of God in us will bring peace providing a quietness in our souls that calms and assures us of God's eternal blessings.

Until the Spirit of God rains on us may we hunger for God like never before. I pray that you and I will arise more than ever in seeking the Kingdom of God. Be generous in your loving people. The world is seeking for God and only the generous people will shine in this hour. Righteousness and generosity go hand in hand.

Memory Verse: Isaiah 32:15

Decree:

Isaiah 32:8
But a generous man devises generous things, and by generosity he shall stand. (italics mine)

A better tomorrow

Everyone is hopeful for a better tomorrow. That's why we say "Good morning" at the start of the day. It's an indicator of the hope within that welcomes the dawning of a new day to bring better fortunes our way. God's mercies are new every morning and His compassion does not fail. When faced with adversity it becomes harder to see a better tomorrow, but resilient people are focused on the fact that trouble is only a comma in the sentence of life. At a time where fear has gripped many hearts because of various reasons, it is difficult to remain hopeful. Without hope, you cannot have the faith necessary to live. Faith is the substance of what is hoped for. Faith gives hope tangibility. To be without hope is to open the door of low living. Hopelessness is the start of damnation in life. You and I were born for a reason. We are not just statistics, making up numbers in any particular nation. You and I were born to reign in life. That situation that has so far made...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
