Come Now Let Us Reason Together

Day 177

Reading: Isaiah 1:1 - Isaiah 3:26

Oh, I am so excited. Don't tell anyone, this is my favourite book. Strange, I know that someone can say they have a favourite book in the Bible. Whenever I have needed a word of encouragement I have always turned to the Book of Isaiah so as I begin this today I am leaping with excitement inside. Isaiah the prophet prophesied during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah all kings of Judah.

Isaiah opens with an exhortation to wash clean. A clarion call to walk in the ways of God is made clear with the children of God advised of their responsibility to walk in purity. God expects that we cut off from anything that causes us to sin. We receive forgiveness from God but don't expect God to switch off the telly when you are watching porn for example. You have the responsibility to walk away from sin and anything that draws you to sin. God has not stopped calling for mankind just like He asked Adam and Eve where were they hidden? It's not that God couldn't see them but because of sin, they couldn't stand before God. For you to reason with God you need to deal with sin.

The prophet Isaiah also tells us of a request that Heaven has made from the beginning of time: Come and Let Us reason together. God is willing to sit down and reason with you and I. God is not unreasonable. God is not seated in Heaven and doesn't think that you can dialogue with Him. We have to learn that God desires we come to the place where we can approach His throne in prayer and reason with Him. We reason in prayer by taking the promises of God to Him and reminding Him of His covenant. He is Adonai, the Master and as such you and I are to present to Him evidence that is the reason for a miracle for you from Him. God calls us to Himself as only He can satisfy.

A day is coming when the terror of God will strike the earth. When God shakes the earth, idols will fall and those who worship them will be left stranded. Isaiah reveals that when this happens the people will seek to hide because of the glory of God and the terror that will accompany the shaking of the earth.

Memory Verse: Isaiah 1:18-19

Decree:

Isaiah 1:26
I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.” (italics mine)

Now is....

Everyday I seek to share something that I have learnt through the daily reading. I make a choice to discipline myself not to write too much as we inundated with a lot of reading material. Feel free to add comments because that way we share and thus encourage one another to grow into the fullness of Christ. Today I am amazed at the fact that God will always remember His covenant and fulfill the promise. I want to list five words in the order they appear in one scripture that showed God is at work in our lives. Remembered : My God will never forget me. To be delayed is not to be denied as God will surely remember. God spoke and said to Sarah that He would return at the appointed time; at the right season!!! I do believe that we are in a season where we will see God begin to act on the promises that seem forgotten. Or better put in another way there is a resurrection of seemingly forgotten prophecies that is about to take place. Dry bones are beginning to take shape. Listened : No longer ...

Blessing or ....

To live well is one thing we all desire. I have never met anyone who did not want to live well. By living well for some people it means helping others. For others it means having a successful business. Yet for others it means travelling the world. I have discovered that it is not money that empowers but the blessing of God that empowers. Money is simply one of the many ways that the effects of the blessing may show up. Many times today in society we confuse money with being blessed yet people like Mother Teresa did not flaunt money but her life still is blessing many people round the world. The book of Deuteronomy has challenged me to desire to be blessed. Anyone who has walked with the blessing of God in their live has seen doors open that are a struggle for others. Yesterday I wrote about obedience. What obedience opens our lives to is the operation of the blessing. By choosing to obey the Word we are choosing to open our lives to be blessed. The purpose of being blessed is not self ...

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...
