Get Wisdom

Day 167

Reading: Proverbs 4:1 - Proverbs 9:18

The main central theme of the Book of Proverbs is the clarion cry to acquire wisdom. Repeatedly in the early chapters, we see the author advising and admonishing on the pursuit of wisdom. Wisdom is not referred to as a principle thing but it is the principle thing to get. King Solomon could attest to the value of wisdom. His desire for a heart that would enable him to rule the children of Israel well saw God open all the vats of blessings into his life. Why should I get divine wisdom?
  • The Bible instructs to get wisdom Proverbs 4:7. Get it because wisdom was there in the beginning and this beginning is the beginning before creation. Why wouldn't you want to connect to the force that was there before creation?
  • Wisdom will order your steps along the smooth path Proverbs 4:12. Wisdom gives a clear path to greatness. Wisdom leads one on the way of God. Wisdom will help clear hurdles that life throws. Wisdom deals with the curve balls that we encounter in the many situations of life.
  • That you may preserve discretion in life Proverbs 5:1. Divine wisdom will aid your associations and help keep you away from the wrong kind of relationships.
  • Wisdom is actually calling for your attention Proverbs 8:1. Wisdom cries out to all because she speaks of excellent things. When life seems to only pour pain into that which is your story seek divine wisdom and you will discover that it will locate the more excellent way for you.
  • Wisdom is better than money Proverbs 8:11. We live in a world where the pursuit of earthly goods is deemed more important than that which is heavenly. Solomon was one very wealthy person and he understood that the source of his wealth was not corrupt deals but the wisdom that God bestowed on him. Riches and honour are found in wisdom.
  • Dominion in life is through wisdom Proverbs 8:14-16. You cannot rule in life without the wisdom of God.
Let your every pursuit and desire be the acquisition of wisdom. Wisdom will bring life to you in all that God has ordained for you. The Word of God is divine wisdom unveiled. The pursuit of divine wisdom will result in health in all your bones and flesh Proverbs 4:22

Absalom's Treachery

Day 91 Reading: 2 Sam. 14:1 - 2 Sam. 15:37 One of life's most painful lessons is the treachery of human beings. When family or friends hurt you and leave you grieving the pain is not the same as when someone out on the street does something wrong. The pain goes deeper and it's easy to become bitter. Absalom had fled from Israel knowing that he was a wanted man for the murder and revenge on Ammon his step-brother. Joab arranged for a wise woman to go see David and get him to forgive Absalom. The wise woman made David realise that he was not setting a godly example by exiling Absalom. The wise woman made David understand that God will not banish anyone but he will seek the person out. God will do everything in His power to restore the banished person. The wise woman was asking David not to forget the grace of God that enables one to enjoy forgiveness. David gets Absalom brought back to Jerusalem however for 2 years he didn't see him. Now, this was worse than ...

Lessons From A Parable

Day 259 Reading: Luke 14:1 - Luke 16:31 The thoughts that God has for you are too many to be counted. Jesus while speaking asked the disciples if they knew the number of hairs that fall off their head? Jesus told them that God is so interested in the minute details about us that He knows when one hair falls down. God is so detailed about our lives because He is good. When you embrace the goodness of God by understanding that God's love towards us is immeasurable. Whilst reading today's passages my heart was refreshed as I read a very famous parable featuring the prodigal son.   Jesus tells us of two sons and a father. The younger son asked for his inheritance and left home leaving the elder son and his father.  The younger went to a faraway land and wasted his life. He soon was dead broke, deserted by his new found friends and looking for a job. He soon was working for a farmer feeding his pigs. His job must have been so mundane with low pay as he ate the food the...

Berachah

Day 126 Reading: 2 Chronicles 20:1 - 2 Chronicles 22:12 While meditating on the above portion of scriptures hope was rising within as I realised that God is indeed more than able to fight for me. I don't know what is ailing you or contending with your well being. What I know is that God is able to resolve the crisis for good. King Jehoshaphat was advised that a great army was coming to fight him. Fear gripped him and he ran to God. He summoned the entire nation to seek the face of God. While he made prayer for salvation from the enemy the entire nation including children were together fasting in prayer. He understood that in trouble one should run to God. The king didn't run to other nations to fight for him. Nope, He ran to God. Run to God always. In the midst of an entire nation seeking God, a prophet arose who declared the counsel of God. The battle belongs to God. Always remind yourself that in every battle God is with you. The prophet even instructed where...
