Day 191
Reading: Isaiah 51:1 - Isaiah 53:12
While in Sunday School I was taught a song. I am sure you also know the song and many times one may even declare this song in prayer. The song was titled "Father Abraham". We declared how Abraham had many sons and I am one of them. Yes, God promised Abraham that he would have many descendants and this song helped birth that promise in us at a young age Genesis 12:1-3. As a child of Abraham, every believer needs to understand the path trodden by Abraham.
Isaiah declares to God's children that they must look to the rock from which they are hewn from. Notice that Isaiah didn't speak of the root but the rock; not a pebble but a rock; not a leaf but a rock; not a liquid but a rock. A leaf can be blown by the wind to and fro, a liquid can change its state to gas depending on the heat applied, while a pebble may be crushed easily. A rock, on the other hand, is solid, unshaken while the forces and tempests of life blow against it. Why look at Abraham and Sarah?
Abraham believed God and followed Him wholly. He left where he was settled and went seeking a land that God had told him about. God didn't tell him to go to this place. He told him to pack and go in a particular direction. That unquestionable and implicit obedience to God made Abraham a friend of God. Remember when God asked Abraham for Isaac, there was no negotiation. Abraham didn't start asking about a substitute for Isaac. He complied with God's request trusting that God was in control. Abraham's faith in God was unshaken even while waiting for a son. He and Sarah waited for 25 years before they held the physical promise. Look to Abraham and let your faith be strengthened. From Abraham and Sarah, we also learn patience and persistent believing without wavering is what draws God. God calls, blesses and increases you when you believe in Him like Abraham.
Looking at Abraham and receiving strength for one's faith will result in blessings being released. When your faith is firm and focused you receive comfort. God desires to bring comfort to all your situations. Get ready for God to make your wilderness like Eden. Abraham and Sarah saw God reverse barrenness by virtue of their believing him. Joy and gladness will flood your life. Thanksgiving and melody will be your testimony from today as your faith comes alive. A child is an heir to the wealth of the parents. You need to walk in faith to access the kind of results that Abraham and Sarah had. More so to access that which God promised Abraham one needs to understand the responsibilities of an heir. Look to the rock from which you are hewn.
Memory Verse: Isaiah 53:1
Decree:
Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” (italics mine)
